Meet the Recruits Pt. 2

Jack steps onto a grassy plane of Grask VI. He walks slowly into a forest and waits. He can remember many things after living three hundred years, but the reason that he was here was special to him. Twenty years ago, he had found a small settlement on a planet about a hundred systems away. He had watched as the parents of two families were rounded up and executed. They had dared to question the teachings of both Hirk and Nal. Their executors fought over what should happen to the young. Jack had decided for them. He struck down the executors and took the children away to the relative safety of this backwater planet. He raised them and taught them all the Atlas had tought him. He also showed them how to survive in the wild, away from friends and family, or together. They learned well, but not enough. He constantly struggled to turn them into as much of fighters, explorers, traders, negotiators, and scientists as he had been. Gradually he realized that he had tought all he could, and it was time to take them alongside him on his journeys. A crunch off to his right brought him out of his reverie. A massive creature glared down at him. He could see the hunger in it's eyes. He leaned back into the tree and took a sip out of his canteen. If he was right... Several blasts sound at once, the sound of weapons fire. He lowers his canteen and screws on the cap as the creature's dead body hits the ground. "It took you long enough." The Vy'keen, seventeen to be precise, step out of the brush. The leader steps forward. "Traveler Jack! You have surprised us once more. I see I was wrong about the black hole..." "No, you were right. It caused a lot of trouble. Good to see you again, Ril." "You as well. Are you here to teach?" "I am here not to teach, but to inform. I have decided. You are ready." The Vy'keen cheer and Jack pulls out a sword of remarkable build and coloring. "This is for you, Ril. It is a sign of your leadership. Also! I brought company!" A large ship that looks custom made floats down and lands. The Gek step out. "These are the start of the Third Spawn. They do not share the foolhardyness of the First Spawn, nor the greed and cowardice of some of the Second Spawn. Welcome them, though they could probably match your ferociousness."
