Constructive Criticism: Weapon Retirement

Some suggestions for making weapon retirement more palletable. 1: Pinnacle gear can be re-earned in the new light category under a 'redo' of the pinnacle quest. Just please make the redo less stringent then the original quest. 2: Lower requirements on Masterwork/Upgrades for the seasonal gear. Right now we have legendary shards, enhancement shards, enhancement prisms, ascendant shards, and upgrade modules. All of these are dedicated to the upgrading of gear and grow geometrically more expensive as you work towards masterwork. For some (if not most) players is it unviable to masterwork anything in 90 days and get much use of it. 3: Put in a wider variety of seasonal gear. For example: If the weapon retirement was in place for Season of the Dawn the artifact mods for the bow would have been useless. Why? Season of the Undying and Dawn had no new legendary bows introduced. That would also impact banshee, vanguard, and crucible quests since you would have to use 'outdated' low light level bows to complete daily bounties. 4: Quest based gear: Black Armory, Nightmare Essences, etc. Would be cycled out of the game by the suggested 90 day limit. This has already happened with other gear from planetary faction drops. It would be (in my opinion) a good idea to keep them relevant somehow with some way to upgrade older gear. If you don't intend to keep them relevant, it may be better to remove the vendors and associated quests from the game. Otherwise you will have players desperately trying to solo team events because of lack of interest. 5: Have old items in the future seasons as drops that allow you to bypass the upgrade modules and seasonal requirements. And maybe re-vist the mods and older gear. Planetary faction drops were cool back in the day. But their stats and mods (plus the inability to use the new mod system) truly debilitates any interest in them. Again, bring them up to date, or perhaps it is time to retire them. 6: Fashion sense: Old faction drops have been seriously out dated. Maybe bring back old gear (Yuga Sundown, Black Armory, Archology, etc.) gear as cosmetic costumes. Personally I enjoyed the look and feel of Bray-Tech armor. I understand to fight power creep you have few real options: A: Cycle out older powerful gear and force a new grind for new powerful gear B: Rebalance older gear to make it viable in the face of new gear C: Have a way to re-interoduce old gear Option A is viable from a company standpoint. Requires less implementation and less work. But it will severely disappoint players using their favorite gear that they grinded hundreds of hours for. And also disappoint people who have dedicated resources towards upgrading. Option B is unviable from a company viewpoint. It would take hundreds to thousands of hours of work to retweak and test old gear. And even then 90% of it won't be used in the face of whatever 'meta' is being run. Option C is viable from a company standpoint. They have already proven it in season of the Dawn via Sundial Quests. Before season of the dawn when was the last time you used your masterworks Perfect Paradox from the Osiris expansion? I understand a large portion of the community is a bit put off by weapon retirement. However it is better to offer solutions then 'it sucks, don't do it'. Personally I was extremely frustrated that I had finally spent my hard earned shards and prisms on masterwork gear to find out in a week it will be obsolete. Anyway, some thoughts. Hope this gets some gears turning (no pun intended).
