Finally got to 5500 Glory. My experience

I just wanted to share my whole experience now that I finally got to max Glory in Competitive PvP, give some feedback and maybe some tips. First of all I'm glad that losing is no longer that punitive as it used to be, I welcome that. Great appreciation goes for the Survival Freelance playlist. I pretty much grinded to 4800/5000 playing solo and it worked GREAT, in fact it worked way better than going with a full stacked team of friends or of allegedly pros recruited on LFG. For some reason not having the stress of people shouting callouts and complaints and nerves and swearing makes communication silent and instant. An important advice is for all those like me who have a friend or two who are quite strong in PvP and you think it might be your golden ticket for glory points. That's wrong, it just doesn't work. Strong doesn't necessarily mean you play well together. The best teammates are those who support any team-kill even at the cost of their death rather than those who have a superstar reputation because they have the highest number of kills. So it might break a few friendship but it's the bitter truth. Play with those you feel coordinated rather than those who have a strong reputation. Play the meta, there's no excuse for not trying to be cancer, the opponents will be so expect the worst tricks on the other side. In my experience I believe there're 3 types of comp players: - Those who snipe - Those who jump/slide rushing a shotgun - Those who run Erentil/Jötunn Unfortunately the 2nd category is by far the most densely populated in the Destiny community. Above 4k there's a very high chance that the opposing team has at least 2 hunters with stompees who are just jump/sliding everywhere with a shotgun. The vast majority goes for mindbender or dust rock blues. The reason for that is the nature of the hunters' jump make them a harder target, so lots of people abuse of it. I'm serious, 90% of the time it's a hunter with a shotgun and a handcannon. With a handful of exceptions you can forget autorifles, SMG, sidearms, all of these were less than 5% in all the matches I played. It's sad to see that Luna's Howl & Dust Rock Blues are still top of the meta after all this time. Really sad, in fact I had to put Luna myself. Lots of handcannons in the meta: Luna's Howl, Spare Rations, Not Forgotten, Thorn, Crimson, Service Revolver, Trust, Ace of spades, Last Word. This is also very sad, 9 handcannons are in the meta, these weapons clearly have a favourite position, if it wasn't for Revoker we wouldn't even see that many sniping. Countless times you'll be swearing because your teammates get disconnected/DDoSed or...they simply leave!! It's shocking but there's really people with zero patience out there, players leaving after 1 lost round. I report them all the time. I think the game should try to be more generous for those unlucky guardians who stay there getting slapped in 2v3 matches. Xbox can clearly understand the difference if someone got disconnected intentionally/unintentionally or simply abandoned because is impatient/pissed-off. The current penalty system is not enough, a better system is needed to understand the difference between disconnection & abandoning. DON'T pay for carries or recovs. It's a disgrace this business even exist and I heard some websites charge truly ridiculous money for such services. It's bad, it's definitely not worth, it's so much better you keep playing and get stronger.
