Gambit without Invasions (or any PvP at all) would be perfection

Seriously: A non-PvP Gambit mode which consists [i]entirely[/i] of competitive PVE (who can get the primeval summoned and burned quicker?) would be so much more pleasant than what we have today. It would give dedicated PVE players a chance to compete in gear races without having to suffer through PvP. EDIT: Since this has caused a tiny bit of confusion... I'm not saying "change Gambit for everyone". I'm saying a "no invader" mode should be a valid option for PVE players who want powerful rewards during week one of a season and are otherwise forced to do PVP. Ideally, you should be able to do endgame PVE without ever having touched a PVP mode in your life. Cooperative > Competitive

    To the “go play PVE” folks: Some of us like the idea of competitive PVE, two teams competing against each other to complete objectives, and that sort of thing can be done without players directly combatting each other. Learning to synch blocker drops, setting up different combinations of blockers, adding bonuses to coordination and team play, and making the enemies more dangerous could all create a fantastic game mode. All while doing that against a team doing the same thing to you making you really consider when you use supers for block clear or save for the primeval. Which weapons would be best and realizing the other team is making the same decisions. If you really think the pvp element is the only way to make gambit tense and exciting, I adamantly disagree with that notion. There are ways to make competitive non-pvp modes.

    • I see you're getting a lot of negativity from the comments. I for one think this would be an interesting idea. Maybe Gambit should change to a weekly rotator that goes from standard to prime to non-invasion. That would work for me.

        I mean it defeats the entire point of Gambit. In that situation, the way you'd win in Gambit would be the same as everyone else. People would find out what the best build for add clear and boss melting is, and then everyone playing the game would do the same thing. The dynamic of invading, blockers ect stop that from happening, because it doesn't matter if you take some dull meta PvE burn loadout, if some invader just dunks on your entire team. The only issue with Invaders right now is that they're all cowards and use weapons that are so overkill, as to be ridiculous and effortless. Heavy weapons especially are nonsense in Invasions, and imo just ruin the entire concept of a guy invading you and hunting you down, if he's just gonna be an 30 year old toddler shooting Truth 8 times, like a coward. Proudest invasion moment was walking through a portal with 20 overcharged Sturm rounds and 2 tapping the whole team and being aggressive as hell and unlocking the primary only full team wipe triumph.

            • If they ever make that mode then I'll definitely jump into gambit. pvp was the only reason I never bothered. Also shout out to Calus for bringing 4 gambit weapons into the menagerie. If it wasn't for that I would've never enjoyed Trust.

              • I was really excited when they initially described gambit until they got to the part about invaders. Have to agree that Gambit would be better without the PVP element or at least the option to play a strictly PVE version with stronger enemies.

              • That would ruin the concept of Gambit. Gambit is meant to be a PvP and PvE hybrid. If you want soley PvE there are tons of strikes, menagerie and even vex offensive to name stuff off the top of my head. Gambit should retain it's identity. If you're strugging in gambit because of invaders either A. You ignore the invader B. Your team doesn't know how to PvP very well C. You aren't very good at evading the invader D. The invader is a PvP god All of which means that the invader deserves those kills. That's the harsh reality, but that's what gambit is all about

                • Hell no brotha. Gambit is a PvEvP experience just like a MOBA. It's unique in that no other modes in D2 are like it. Crucible is PvP only. Every other part of the game is PvE only so you have lots of already existing content to choose from, even Reckoning which is how you obtain the Prime Armor is a PvE only experience. So I have no sympathy for those who go into Gambit or Prime or Crucible and whine about the PvP aspect of this game. Be thankful this isn't Dark Souls 3, imagine running a Nightfall and getting invaded by an enemy Fireteam? Gambit and it's Prime counterpart should remain as they are, as they where designed to be, a PvEvP experience! Unless you think we should change those patrol zones or Strikes so I can invade you while your running them? Gambit alleviates an itch for many of us that combines PvP and PvE in a way that I'm thankful Bungie thought of. If it's not your cup of tea then don't waste tea-bags steeping it, but asking for tea to be more like Coffee is ridiculous and only causes frustration for other people.

It would give dedicated PVE players a chance to compete in gear races without having to suffer through PvP.[/quote] I can see the merits of having a PVE-only gambit mode to appeal to PVE-only players, but if such a mode is created, it should NOT have the same rewards as the rest of Gambit. So no 21% Delerium, Hush, Exit Strategy, etc. quest progress in this mode since there is no danger of being disrupted by invasions. It can still have its own unique rewards under a different tracker, but it should not share the unique rewards of other Gambit modes given the missing Invader element.

                          • Gambit is a hybrid game mode between pve AND pvp. It's both. So if you want a solely pve styled activity go play pve content, it has that everywhere. Same for pvp players. I could agree with invasions being too strong in certain modes of Gambit (prime), all it needs is some balance but it's difficult cause you don't want the game to feel like it's one main mode featuring another, sometimes. But if you take away pvp from gambit it's not gambit, youre pretty much just playing a competitive strike at that point.

I understand the frustration that invasion causes but it needs to remain there. If you want simply a horde mode, cause that’s what it would be, then there is already options there. In my opinion, it is the frequency of invasion that is needed and there has to be a risk element from invading. If you invade and die, it doesn’t affect you or your team at all - but if you invade and kill someone with motes then that affects the opposition- there needs to be a balance.

Otherwise it’s just a mob melting simulator.

This is comparable to being an anti-vaxxer and avoiding vaccines, then being struck down by the common flu.

                                            People will ache for only high dps things. You wouldnt see titans because everyone would ask for either nova bomb or blade barrage only. Good idea tho

                                            • Its meant to be a game mode for everybody. Its 4 people vs 1 invader. If you cant kill him then thats your skill at fault not the gamemode. If you want a hardcore pve mode then do a raid or nightfall.
