Does Mercury Hide Far Darker Secrets?

I was watching a crime show a few days ago and started thinking about Brother Vance (BV) and Old Silas (OS) on Mercury. The crime show was about a kid who was taken and raised by this guy. When they found him, years later, he was totally devoted to the guy, as if brainwashed. This is the thing that got me thinking about BV and OS's relationship. BV seems absolutely devoted to Old Silas, to the point of obsession. This is the same way the kid in the show was to his kidnapper. It's like BV was brainwashed into thinking OS is the best thing since butter poached lobster. Now, I can't help wondering if Old Silas kidnapped BV when he was young and hid him on Mercury. It seems completely possible. First, everytime I'm on Mercury no one else is here. It's full of Vex and Cabels, but it's not like they are telling anyone. All of this makes Mercury perfect kidnappers lair. Second, BV seems pretty young, while OS appears to be, as implied by his name, old. BV seems far to young to be his son, plus pretty sure Light makes Guardians sterile, so don't think Old Silas can even have kids. Next, everything about Mercury seems really secretive. This would make sense if OS was keeping young kidnapped kids there. Finally, BV is absolutely obsessed w OS. This isnt a mere "I respect you" type situation, it's the sort of obsession that leads you to wake up at 2am and see you ex covering your windshield w Vaseline and then getting 2 dozen roses from them the next day w a card saying how much they love you. It's kra to the extreme. All of this could be explained by Old Silas having kidnapped Vance one day and taken him to raise one Mercury. With the chaos of the darkness and all the attacks, it wouldn't have been hard for OS to have his ghost make him invisible and sneak into human camp and snatch a kid. That tower on Mercury is pretty big, who knows how many Brother Vance's are currently being held there by OS.

  • Im sorry what? Assuming that you’re talking about OSIRIS (OS), the theory comes apart in two main ways (just off the top of my head). 1: Osiris and Ikora very much dislike brother Vance. Both Ikora and Osiris seem to think that Vance is a babbling fanatic (and well, he is), showing distain and distaste for his worship of Osiris and his ‘prophecies’, which would suggest that Osiris didn’t kidnap and raise Vance to be like this. 2: Vance and Osiris have never met. Yep. Vance very clearly says in one of the CoO missions “I’m finally going to meet Osiris”. They’ve never met. Therefore Osiris didn’t kidnap and raise him. Basically, yeah Osiris really hated how people worshipped and revered him, he had nothing to do with them, especially not Vance. And, ya know...
They. Never. Even. Met.
• When we go into the big tower, there is a door on the left which lets you forge weapons. However, we've never seen behind the door. For all we know, the rest of the Brother Vances are there and Old Silas is giving us the weapons to distract us and not make us suspicious.

      • Yes. That DLC was made 2 weeks before it's launch. That's the real dark secret.
