What I learned after 100 EAz miniboss kills...

I started calling it the Electronic Arts Zone, as the idea was good and the execution was awful. Here's my rundown of what I liked and didn't like. Liked: -The first few run throughs -Leaving after the 100th miniboss kill. -The treasure hunt, even if the treasure was lame. Didn't like: -Bonking into every ceiling Having my jump stolen going over any sort of slight incline -Get stuck air humping going up any slight incline -Enemy AI that is laughably bad. (seriously, they could be getting shot from three feet away but will still try to gun you down across the map as you're clumsily trying to get from a to b) -The EAz pointing out how bad movement in Destiny really is. Never really had issues until this time. -Boss stomp mechanics. Especially those witches. Holy crap. -Screwing over teammates for miniboss kills. -Getting screwed over for miniboss kills. -Lack of ammo drops, especially heavy. -Getting trapped in corners unable to get out because I fall on top of enemies that were also trapped in said corner. If I did it again I didn't want to say if I could do it again, because I just wouldn't. But, if I had to, I would space it out. Yes, we have a month. I just wanted it done. That's on me. But I would take my time. By the time I got to 70, I decided to just finish it. I did what I could to rez teammates if they went down, it sucks missing out as you wait to be revived, and this objective sucks for everyone. I would wait for people to get in a hit on the miniboss before defeating it. If there was no one nearby, I would just finish it off. I didn't leave any matches except for the last one. I got my last kill and left. And, I would go in with friends. Changes I would make Count all miniboss defeats. Turning a co-op mode into a stressful time squeeze to get damage and kills is frustrating. I know that it was probably done the way it was to avoid afkers, but I can handle a few people being afk. Bosses need new mechanics at close range. Remove some debris to help with moving around in buildings and close quarters. That's it.

  • i did this with my titan about 2 weeks ago and i am dreading this step for my warlock whixh i have been putting off till i have a day off from work. the titan is by far the best character for this because of the peregrine greaves 1 shotting the minibosses. i averaged 7 per run while teamates were barelly getting 2 or 3 each. the movement on the titan is far and above better than the warlock. and the ability to one shot the minibosses in any way is a godsend but man.. this step was a grind no matter how you slice it. the 50 kills nerf is something they should of had at the begging and anyone claiming the high ground saying this nerf was bad just want to stroke their own egos. this nerf is one of the few reasons i even wanted to conitnue this step on my lock in the first place (im a titan main but imho the lock solstice armor looks a whole mile better thsn any of the other armor so that is why i did the titan first)

  • This garbage that they are gonna dumb this down to only 50 kills is bullshit. Catering to the cry babies and blueberries. What does this mean for the rest of us that grounded the shit out of this for the prestigious right for majestic pieces?.. probably absolutely nothing. There’s a prestige to this and they are making it so everyone can enjoy. Same bs for the mountain top and recluse. I guess all you gotta do is cry and whine for things to be handed to you. -blam!-ing babies

    To be fair for minibosses, I would either OHK them with a super or just scratch one or almost kill one for my teammates to come and finish it off, all you gotta do is do like 0.1% damage and you'll get credit for it (as long as it dies).

  • Agree to an extent. 1. EAZ highlights EVERY problem wtih the "soap bubble" physics of the game. Where you really see it is how unpredictably your Guardian behaves everytime you bump into something. I literally tried to jump over a three-foot high rock...and got knocked backwards. 2. Yes, boss stomp mechanics are just done. The entire communtiy is just sick of them at this point. I tried to fire my super at the Ogre boss. I was airborne at the time when he stomped. Even though I was a good 30 feet (in game distance) away....I stll got knocked halfway across the courtyard. In another bossbattle (the Brood queen). I was in cover such that I ddint' get burned by her flame attack....but I still got KNOCKED off the edge of the map to my death. See point 1. Bungie needs to understand that this kind of crap isn't "challenging" its cheap and its RAGE inducing. (Dont' even get me started on that b***h in the Ascendant Realm strike and all the cheap ways she can OHK you.) The game---as a whole---is in a good spot. But the game still has problems that Bungie needs to fix, and design RUTS that they need to recognize and get out of.

    I don't get all the complaints. The EAZ has the most dynamic PVE gameplay ever in Destiny. Seems some people would be happier with the same old run to the arena, kill boss, run to next arena, kill boss. If Bungie does quit innovating and experimenting then I'm out.

      • Bosses certainly should have been "as a team defeat x minibosses" much like the chests counted for all and the solar weapon kills on guardians (for Warlock of course idk if it was different for other classes not there yet) or even more kills woulda been fine if it was as a team defeat x powerful enemies in eaz either would work better

      • I did it over several days and it wasn't so bad. After awhile, you know where the bosses are going to be. Advice: stay on the rooftops so you can move more quickly.

      • You just reminded me of how bad movement is in this game. Really bad. Slow, clunky, awkward, and you bounce off everything like you are a pinball. Going up inclines is a joke and the game frequently robs you of your second jump, for some unknown reason. I like the EAZ, but it really highlights how weak movement is in this game. Every little obstacle hinders you, even little steps force you to jump over them. Compare this to Titanfall 2, where movement is smooth and fast. You can cover a lot of ground quickly and you just glide across the battlefield. The game doesn't hinder you with cheap deaths like falling off cliffs and being stomped across the map.

        • The jumping and terrain issues would make that muscle in my neck twitch every time. I agree with rezzing others too. I always choose reviving teammates over objectives. Just feels wrong to leave them there for my own gain. I’m just not that person.

        • 1-2 person the shattered throne Seems really tough, but you only have to do it ONE -blam!-IN TIME, screw that grind bull Is this true? I know resetting valor counted if you did it before solstice... Just curious because I don't have all of my characters with majestic armor yet. So when Shattered Throne comes around, can I just run it on one of my characters to masterwork it and then when my other characters have majestic armor, I won't have to run it again?

          • Make it so you have to finish the final boss for them to count, but lower the amount needed dramatically, like maybe down to 20. That prevents people from leaving and doesn't make it as tedious since you're having to finish a session. As it is, even with them counting if you leave... 100 is freakin ridiculous.

          • Easy fixes for the miniboss phase Make teamshot minibosses count for every fireteam member that lands a shot ie 3 people land a shot each = 3 each on the tally. Miniboss kills only count upon completion of the final boss, yes miniboss grind is real but people also get left soloing the final bosses because they still need to open 50 chests. People skipping the chest phase might’ve forgotten you can reroll your majestic armour through the chests once you get majestic. For every 20 or so i opened i got about 4 rerolled armour peices.

            • I understand not enjoying grindy quests, but at the same time this event is supposed to last the better part of three weeks. The community is putting Bungo in no win scenarios. If this quest rolled out and it wasn't grindy the community would complain about lack of content. If it is grindy the community would complain that it is too grindy. The entire point of this event is to play EAZ as well as other activities. If you want to complete it as fast as possible like I did, that is fine, but do not complain because it is grindy. I also do not understand community frustration with the miniboss kills. I ran EAZ until I got all of my chests, than LFG'd a group to farm minibosses. From start to finish it took me two hours. Lastly if you really want to get the most out of this event you should be playing a lot of EAZ anyway! I understand wanting to get the legendary armor as soon as possible, but playing EAZ gives great rewards!! I already have my legendary armor and have found that Im actually playing more EAZ now than I was when I was doing the quest. Solstice is a good event. Could it have been better? Sure. I would have loved it if they added a couple new solstice weapons. But the event itself is good. Considering the past live events, I think Solstice is a great improvement and a great step in the right direction.

                • For me these are the 3 things I think NEED to be changed (NOW!) - Raid Banner for ammo at the start. - Team mini-kills for the 100 - Bosses give 1-2 points. The freaken mini-servitors EACH count as a mini-boss. Seriously this is the one boss I can always count on loosing all my secondary and heavy ammo too.

                    Grim as usual. - old

                    This is exactly how I felt to a damn T, tripping over pebbles falling in holes and not mantling when it’s supposed to. I almost whiffed my controller across my room lol. Got my majestic set and all pieces but the chest masterworked.
