Discuss all things Destiny 2.

I really wish each dlc continued to expand its loot content even after it's over.

One of the things I liked most about black armory was the reskinning of some year 1 guns into year 2 variants but more so towards the forge weapons. It's far more consistent with farming and it doesn't take long to do. Tedious with the Ada step, but manageable. Although not exactly what I'm asking for its certainly a nice addition and adds a little more to the loot table. One of my biggest gripes with Destiny, particularly it's paid dlc, is the general lack of large scale loot being added into the game. With forsaken, most weapon types got at least 1 variant for each archetype, which isn't a bad thing, but it certainly is shallow especially when you want to explore more options. Something I never quite understood (besides the cost obviously) is why they don't just continue to put out guns. In terms of the tangled shore, there are still a large variety of archetypes that could use a skin or variant for that area, the same thing with the dreaming city. With the dreaming city, it's got the special loot that drops as well as ones from the raids. But imagine if instead of just stopping there, they continued to add weapons to the raid, to the patrols, to keep them valuable. They could even just be excluded from the lore and be considered something like ER (extra rewards) like faction rallies were. Like I said with black armory above, I like how they brought back some year 1 guns in year 2 form, but I don't like how the new designs like ringing nail, kind of just stopped. They could keep the community so much more occupied if SOMETHING was added to make those activities stay relevant over time. Every month, they could add 1 new black armory frame, 1 new dreaming city weapon, and 1 new tangled shore/general loot pool weapon into the game. This would add some level of desire to want to go back and continue doing these activities, as well as consistently expanding the loot pool. It would certainly be costly for bungie, but this game needs more loot to keep it relevant as it's starting to get boring even though season of the forge is supposed to last till season of the drifter. It's been what, 3-4 weeks since any black armory specific gear has released and the only thing close to new content was a bland event and a single Destiny 1 exotic? I just don't even care to do anything other than milestones and messing around in crucible because everything else has no value to me anymore. Of course I put in a tremendous amount of time into the game to get where I'm at, but it just feels bland at this point. I want more to keep me occupied and I'm sure a bunch of other people do too. I'm not saying that they should or "I quit," none of that bullshit, but I've got nothing I care to do at this point and I'm playing it far far less than I would 5-9 weeks ago. At least something like this, even if it's not a weapon type I care for, would add something for somebody else to chase and use. But until something like this happens, I'm going to just be sitting and waiting for season of the drifter, which might repeat the same issue and drive the game lower in both player count as well as general entertainent.

  • Honestly I hope the are knee deep into crafting destiny 3 with a new game engine instead of this old halo engine. An engine designed with destiny in mind.

  • Bring back Factions with random rolled weapons each week. Blind well also needs its own separate loot pool. Escalation Protocol needs an update with more loot added. Vanguard and Crucible needs random rolled weapons each week. Heroic Public Events should also have there own loot pool. Would be worth making them heroic then. Also after every new update the Factions, Vanguard, Crucible and Public Events should get entirely new loot to chase. All the old raids should get new loot added. Actual Raid perks on all new weapons would be great. I have never understood why bungie are afraid to add new loot for d2 after every update. I like grinding loot

    • All that costs money. And last I checked, people keep complaining about a 10$ emote. And yet fornite does a 20$ skin, everyone is fine with it.

      • Agreed, I’ve never seen a looter shooter that has a shallower loot pool or range of relevant activities. They did it with D1 and have done it again, they created all these activities in year one and then just left them to gather dust in year two. Why? Who actually visits the planet vendors anymore other than to get your flashpoint reward. Who does EP anymore once they have all of the 3 weapons they decided to give it. That one I really don’t understand, I get why the forged have only a small selection of weapons as the raid had the rest with the same aesthetic and it made sense. EP doesn’t. Who goes to the farm anymore? Who farms strikes if they’re not grinding for the fusion, considering that the heroic playlist doesn’t have any specific loot and gives the same rewards as a heroic public event? What happened to exotic armour catalysts that they mentioned once then never again? Why no vendor inventory refresh, even on a seasonal basis? Biggest question, why is the world so dead? Why did they put so much time making the EDZ so big if it’s going to populated with nothing and nobody has any reason to ever go there unless they’re fast travelling to a forge or it’s flashpoint week? I just don’t know, I’m only really seeing just how shallow and barebones this game really is since they started seasonal pass content. In my opinion, it offered really very minimal content. You’ll have the defenders saying “oh it only cost 15 bucks, how much did you expect”. That’s not the point. It’s 15 bucks that really wasn’t value for money. Id happily pay more for a higher quality release.

      • Every season Eververse always has new emotes, sparrows, ships and ghosts(even as reskinned ones) when we should be getting more armour sets and weapons added to planetry vendors, activities and the general loot pool.Personaly i'm getting a little sick of eververse getting new things every season while planetry vendors still only have the same things from when D2 launched.

        • Is it bad that I don't see the point in them making a Destiny 3? Wouldn't it be better for them to just give us expansions instead of making another whole new crappy game? They're going to just reskin everything anyways and slap on a number 3 after Destiny like it's a new game. Lmao

        • i just wish destiny 1 was still a part of this game and everything carried over. D2 could have completely new weapons and gear, but you could still have anything you earned in d1. Even better, if there was something you still needed from d1, you could pop d1 in, play it, get that weapon, and the next time you played d2, boom, there it is. D1 and D2 could still have been different games. D2 still could have had its own full sized loot pool, and we still could have had everything we played for in D1. I personally think its a better way of making the universe feel more like a 10 year plan, instead of blowing everything up and starting from scratch. Everything is still destiny, its still all one universe. You can't play VOG in d2, but you can go back in d1 and play it and keep whatever you earn.

        • I've been saying this for months, planet vendors should have farmable bounty's for a couple of weapons a week and armour sets that get themed ornaments every season, so Nessus would have a red flowery theme, earth would have an industrial metal look. They then add weapons to things like blind well, EP to make players want t to go back and do those activities, it means more people are playing then which means newer players are more likely to see people doing said activities. Go into your collections now and look at the numbers for emotes, ghost shells, sparrows and shaders, they nearly match the and surpass the amount of year 2 useable armour and weapons, they can add those at an alarming rate but can't bring back some year 1 weapons, it's comical.

          • Bungie does this thing where they promise excellent content and pump out medium to sub par content, then spend that content drop attempting to make it good. Once the cycle ends another one begins. And it will continue

          • I’ll never understand why they would intentionally create gear that will eventually become obsolete before the end of the game’s life cycle. Seems like such a waste.

            • What’s more important to me is Vault size. I have few reasons to play if I can’t store anything I earn. It’s pointless. Adding loot becomes meaningless. Dumb Bungie keeps spiraling down without significant necessities. We need vault size increase ASAP. I’m tired of deleting everything. Also increase inventory size while you’re at it. Use your brains, Bungie. Stop pushing people away due to lazy inaction.

                • I like this idea, but there would be things to consider: Collections need updating - we need to get newer gear from the collections! Even if they're fixed rolls, there's plenty of room in the vault for your favourite god rolls! RNG needs to be seriously reviewed; more loot is more saturated loot pool so more chance of getting duplicates! Removal of older gear: why is this even a thing!! The only older (legendary) gear available still is activity specific and I think that's just raids, nightfalls and EP! If more loot is added it shouldn't be replacing older stuff!!

                • I agree call of duty does this they add weapons to the game in between docs .. I never understood that either .. honestly lately I'm not really sure what bungie is doing .. doesn't seem like wanting this game to succeed .. it's like they think alright we did great things with forsaken and that's good for now .. they really have to ask themselves is this a game they would stay invested in with lack of loot incentive lack of content and reskins and reworked content tagged as new dlc ... It's a shame really

                  • I imagine it's pretty tough to balance newer people playing older dlcs vs adding and/or replacing loot for older content to keep veteran players interested in it. I agree though. Lack of content is why I'm not an active player at the moment.

                    • New strikes and refresh loot pools as well as objectives for Escalation Protocol, Blind Well and Forge. And New Raid. Also I'd like to see faction rallies in crucible. Nothing says competition among factions like a Good ole crucible match.

                    • The problem with the split from activision is that Bungie doesn't have the manpower anymore. So, while they are free to do what they want now, I can't see them being able to deliver the amount of content the community wants on a monthly basis. Its just not feasible, so expect content to continue to be light while they work on this summers big forsaken-like expansion. Also, if the leaks/rumors are true, they're already working on D3 which means they probably aren't concerned with adding too much loot. What's the point if they're wiping the slate clean? While I like the idea of more loot/weapons, I rather them just nail the summer expansion and make sure D3 is the game Destiny was always supposed to be. For now, I'm just good with PvP until then and these little seasons. Just my 2¢
