I joined in harassing an accused booter on Bnet.
After I said what I did I noticed the vile cacophony I was part of, so I messaged the player, apologized, and asked for their side of the story.
They told me a gaming story that might as well have been my own friends in another life.
Then they shared with me the shit other players were sending them, and I have never been more ashamed to be in that category of person- feel like a sheep, feel like a jerk. I'm just feeling really bad.
I don't even know why I'm typing this here, probably just get ignored or shat on.
Anyways, I learned a little bit more about online harassment today. I'm not certain I know the line between goofing on someone and harassing- I think I might post a little less for a while. Boredom is no excuse for treating someone poorly in my book, and I am ashamed.

Your glory just went up to brave.

Any mistake is acceptable if you're brave enough to admit them.

Yup, you were a douche
-
Sticking up for your buds eh?
-
Good for you for owning up to a mistake. That takes courage.

Edited by UnbrokendredgenRevoker: 2/10/2019 4:01:02 PMOnline communities on games like this is toxic. The amount of crap players have to deal with just playing a game for fun is ridiculous. I've been called many things since I started playing Destiny in 2014. I've had some horrid messages, spoken to in party chats and so on. It is not fun. You learn you lesson so that is positive. The one thing to remember is, banter is fine but never go to far because you don't know how it may affect the person on the other end of the screen

Nobody deserves "harassment". But, in the real big scary world, there are scumbags and evil doers. They need to be slapped down and punished. For every act, there are consequences, to perform a scummy act, get called out for it, then try to defend it as lamely as was done, was comical. They did it. The history shows it. But were they a booter though? ;P

Everyone can be a jerk sometimes, but here you realised it was wrong and stopped. Then you aplogised and asked them about it. Well done, and hopefully lesson learned for next time!

Oof. I think that deserves a “way to go slick”
