Last Word final quest step is extremely terrible, just like the rest of the quest
There’s this crappy new mechanic in the finalist last word quest step, ‘the conversation,’ where you have to ‘duel’ an enemy without the game telling you how. He’s just immune. So you get 1-shot by him a few times until you are forced to look it up. You need to shoot his hand as he aims with the last word. Then you kill a bunch of thrall + 2 knights. Then you face the boss + 1 clone (because why not) in another shitty ‘duel,’ where it’s also not clear which 1 to shoot 1st, so you die & wipe, restarting from the Beginning, dueling the boss the 1st time again, then kill the thrall & knights again, then dueling the 2. If you succeed, you need to kill more filler thrall then you face the boss + 2 clones. You have to shoot them in their hand in order very fast, & this is the most difficult part, because a lot of times either the aim assist interferes & makes you shoot the immune body (thus dying) or you shoot the hand, he’s stunned, but somehow he shoots you back, you’re 1-shot, & due to extremely shitty game design, you have to start all over, running the 1st duel, then adds & knights, then duel 2, then more filler adds, then duel the 3, & if for any reason you are killed, even if you win all duels, back to square 1. Rinse and repeat for over an hour.
TL;DR this quest step is dumb. There should either be no filler adds or have a checkpoint after the 2nd duel. Also, either he shoots me or I shoot him, stop making this garbage where we shoot each other every time. It’s extremely poorly designed to artificially extend the play time. It’s a frustrating waste of time, just like the rest of the game. If one part is artificially difficult, then make players repeat, not all of the easy part just to get to the shitty 1. I succeeded eventually but this dumb waste of time quest step made me hate the game even more.
1/10 for this quest. If you’re stuck at the crucible step or just have the base game, don’t bother. Aside from the above, there are almost no voice dialogue or cutscenes whatsoever, & the ‘story’ is very shoddy & poorly-written. Most quest steps are random, boring, repetitive & uninspired, like ‘kill X enemies,’ ‘Run 15 lost sectors just because,’ ‘go to crucible because why not,’ etc.
I can’t believe this is paywalled with the season pass, for a gun that we have already paid for in D1 no less. Such a scummy monetary design. This is proof that Bungie themselves are the problem with destiny, not Activision.

I agree. On a PS4 the end of this quest is beyond annoying. I gave up after about 30 attempts. What made that easier to do is when I thought about all the other 'must have' weapons sitting in my vault doing nothing and how short life is, and moved on. Haven't regretted it one bit.

U are exactly right. Even on the thorn quest, it is inexplicably annoying and almost impossible. The game is quite cheaply made, with the story being the same almost EVERY TIME. And the game itself?! They just have to make it sooooo complicating. What happened to the game style of D1? It was much simpler.

I hate quests where you only have 1 specific way to do it, There's no other options no other way to approach it no gear that can assist no changing of any tactics of any kind its just beating your head against the wall to see which breaks first, either you quit or succeed. And by far the worst is that us and EU players have a massive advantage due to latency, try this with 800 ms.

Well buddy, seems like all the commenters are berating you for not being good. Can confirm, final mission of this quest is BS on console. Died 50 times the first time, left it for a month, came back and died another 15. I'm nowhere near the best of players, but this is well and truly stupid. I should have completed the quest a good 10 times but on the final 3 I shoot 1 and they shoot me back, despite the fact I still kill them. At this point I've called BS on this whole quest and settled with my nice and dandy Thorn with interesting perks.

Well first of all it's extremely obvious what to do it says draw and he has a glowing blue gun and the order they shoot in is also obvious because it's the spawn order

1 ReplyFriend of mine went in blank... he figured out you need to shoot the weapon hand after 1 attempt. It took him 2 more attempts to figure out the sequence they spawn in is the sequence you need to shoot them.... at attempt 7 he succeeded. I was impressed since it took me 3 attempts more and i knew the mechanics after my google search. I personally found it challenging and fun. TLTR: you are salty.

Does anyone use context clues to figure shit out anymore?? Like seriously no wonder many games are shit now, players demand they have their handheld at all times. If it doesn’t have a neon flashing arrow saying shoot this players just put their hands up and complain. Any attempt to make stuff vaguely challenging is met with impotent shrieks.

5 RepliesI like the concept of the last quest, but the execution was typical bungie terrible. Hit detection is bad and it was laggy. Definitely beat it a few times only to be killed by the last clone's shot 2 seconds after I killed him

That was a great ending to the quest. They draw in the order they appear. Looked it up after 40 deaths.

Oh man, a really cool and unique boss fight mechanic where it isn’t just a bullet sponge. I can’t believe I had to think! If you shoot the boss at the hand before he fully draws, he disappears. Just out draw him. You’ll win every time

6 RepliesBecause it was so difficult to pay attention to the order they spawned in. I don’t know what is more funny 1. The fact that you couldn’t figure this out or 2. You created a post to cry about one of the easiest and fun parts of the quest. You entitled cry babies crack me up. My suggestion to you is this: delete characters and uninstall destiny because it is apparent this game is to challenging for you.
