The title pretty much sums this up and I'm writing as a person using the weapon and having the weapon used against me.
The thunderlord needs a buff... I have absolutely no trouble shutting down someone using it with a simple handcannon. I mean it is a heavy weapon and it feels as though it is a glorified auto rifle at this point.
From a user's stand point, the flinch on this weapon is unnecessary... you shouldn't be punished for using a heavy weapon... I think less heavy spawns would be a nice change as we don't require it for shotguns and snipers anymore. The d1 heavy system was great, if you wanted heavy you had to fight for it now it feels too rewarding which is why I feel weapons like this are suffering.
Therefore I am suggesting a 30% damage increase in PvP, a recoil rework on the weapon, less heavy spawns, and a nerf to nova warps blast radius/time length/tankiness... take your pick lol just kidding... or am I...👀
I hope in future the TTK of these weapons is lowered to the 3 shot head shot we all know and love from destiny 1.

Or just increase the rev up to rpms.

"Please being LMGs back so I can crouch in the back of the map with them and get easy kills"
-
Are you insane? 30% extra damage would pretty much make heavy weapons a 1 shot kill (mostly rockets and Linear Fusion Rifles) I have to strongly disagree with this.
-
How about leave as it is because it's already perfect???? If you're not satisfied with this you're asking for too much at this point. The thing is extremely powerful in both PvP and PvE not to mention its easy to use.

Edited by ShaxxCousin: 11/14/2018 9:59:03 PM30% damage increase in PvP?? That’s where it’s best at! I’m surprised people are not asking for a nerf! Lol
-
Honestly just make it an auto rifle. You could use it a lot more, and even though it would deal less damage it would be an actually good exotic auto rifle.
-
Buff yes ...... nerf he’ll no
-
So buff the special ammo economy so I get more Telesto shots? Totally agree.
-
This game was designed to have soooo little role for heavy weapons and even now it shows. It is crippled compared to D1 and yet people take it into the raid and slaughter the boss. They really screwed up this game and who knows if it will ever recover.
-
Thunderlord is fine it kills in 0.50 seconds. No primary is close to that. Not even Luna The ISSUE however is that people dont want to aim for the head. Because god forbid you need to be precise to land headshots!
-
Nah. No more we rans with machine guns.
-
Aztecross actually did some testing, apparently it does need a buff. In D1 PvP, it did 61 to the head and like 30ish to the body. In D2 PvP, it does roughly 42 to the head and 30ish to the body.
-
It does feel weak. Was about 50% stronger in D1 Destiny 1 -62 damage headshot - 50 damage body Destiny 2 -41 damage headshot - 30 damage body https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/1GtrNjOBJddXWzXh3rf45eED31XoyfYFUX71JU32tg2E/htmlview# https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=uY48AauG-Y0

Say whaaaaaaaa?

The tradeoff to being beaten is an overall greater potential for kills. Keep in mind it only takes 4 headshots to kill somebody which isn't very many, but it gets over 50 rounds in the magazine for a SINGLE ammo pick up. With perfect accuracy that's a potential of 12 or more kills. Obviously this won't be common, but it is fantastic for the small price you have to pay. Will it be better in more competitive crucible? No because you want kills as fast as possible with as much ease as possible. No inconsistent bullshit. It is, however, still a REALLY good heavy weapon and it has room to change when different fire rates are introduced. Particularly ones that fire like corrective measure.
-
The gun is fine. The weapons in general have changed from D1. It’s better than D1 thunderlord but people are crying because “MUH PVP DAMAGE” despite the fact it has a lightning strike during damage and on a kill, the fire rate ramps up, and you get more than enough ammo for the thing. It can outgun a Luna despite people claiming the opposite.
-
I used it for ten minutes last night, so I can’t say wether or not it is weak or strong. I’m sure if it is on the weak side that’s just bungie taking it a little easy with the reintroduction of machine guns. Currently thunderlord is the only machine gun in the game, and I’m guessing they are playing with it balance wise a little in anticipation of black armory.
-
Let's be clear, though. It's AWESOME in PvE.
-
Hopefully the slower firing machine guns in the future will properly represent what machines guns were, a real heavy hitting, flinch inducing monster. Machine guns should also NOT be punished for non-precision shots, because it is not a precision weapon. Machine guns were spray and play, but Thunderlord isn't that good if you don't aim for the head. In PvE it's pretty fun to use, but I find in PvP it is nothing but lackluster. I'm saying this as someone who used machine guns as their heavy weapon 90% of the time in all activities in Destiny 1. It doesn't look like they'll be the same, and it is a shame that they finally brought them back starting off in an average place among a wide variety of better weapons.

I 1v1d a guy with it by peek shotting with my Luna. Too easy
