What are some games that you thought would be great but turned out terrible?
I have been debating picking up Fallout 76 for a while. I really want it to be good, but I just don't see it happening. Same with RDR2. As the clock ticks by, I set my thoughts to the past, not the future. With the release of so many AAA games until December, I had a question for you all.
I am certain a post about this has already been made. But I wanted to start one for the people who maybe can't find it.

This question is for everyone. From the "casuals" that buy Fifa every single year to the people that only buy the games that get 90s on metacritic and think preordering is a sin.
What game did you buy thinking it would be incredible but ended up with a garbage game?

Black ops 4. First time I questioned whether CoD was worth my money. Second would probably be curse of Osiris, mainly due to the high expectations I had that I probably knew were unrealistic and wouldn’t be met. [spoiler]to me D2 was fine on release, would have been fixed sooner had everyone used the feedback forums for complaints about the game. Warmind was meh, I don’t regret getting it but I’d probably regret [b]not[/b]buying it. Forsaken is good and the free QoL updates that launched alongside it were a huge step in the right direction. Probably not going to regret getting the annual pass as I have managed my expectations to the point where I’m 99% sure that they’ll be smaller than half of CoO and warmind. Might buy the next big dlc for D2, with well managed expectations, unlike [b]some[/b] people. Same thing goes for D3 if that ever happens.[/spoiler]

Diablo 3 vanilla to me was a pile of 💩, but I played it because I was a Diablo junkie. It did get better, albeit it took the expansion to make it better. Destiny 2 is the other for all the reasons you already heard a 1000 times already. This time I didn't stick around with the game, I just bailed and said forget it.

Pokemon Go. It was amazing at the start, but developer arrogance and skewed priorities ruined it. Actual cheaters that harm the game? Nah, that's fine. Scraping data that gives players a radar that gives them a more yielding journey? Die, die, die!

4 RepliesWell at least it's games we bought and not just played, that shortens the list and laughable salt I'll get a bit. Halo 3 - The entire game was a massive let down for me compared to 2, on top of that I was forced to do it on legendary. A few years later I was going to give it another try so I bought it... I did the first mission at least. RDR - Part of the issue is that I went straight into multiplayer which itself just felt trashy and the campaign just felt slow. Had the game for a week before I just traded it in. Witcher 3 - I just found it boring and I'm not really a fan of preset playable characters in RPGs BF1 - Campaign isn't that bad, I've been playing it again trying to get the platinum. The multiplayer on the other hand literally fells like it's CoD with large maps and vehicles. I actually downloaded it on Xbone via EA access only to delete it not long after. AC1 - I liked it at first but a few hours in it became extremely boring GTA 5 - Story is ok but the multiplayer (Saints Row Online), talk about a cash milker. Dino Stalker - It's trash. RE Survivor 2 - If it actually had an original story like the first then it may have been good. Sims 4 - Seriously the dlcs have dlcs.

I couldn't stand the idea of going through another of those moronic tank battles or those POS Riddler race challenges. Then the game makes me fight Deathstroke....in a f**king tank. What an insult. I quit right there and sold it. Whoever designed the Batmobile and decided to make it the focus, should never be allowed to work on video games again.

2 RepliesMass Effect: Andromeda by far is the most disappointing release I ever played. Most buggy. Worst story. Worst dialogue. Worst open world. Worst side missions. Worst use of loading screens because every damn part of every damn mission had you flying from planet to planet. Worst of all there is no hope of redemption in DLC; EA closed the studio and put the franchise on ice. This console generation has had a lot of disappointing sequels, but this one stands out as the worst of the worst.

I loved bioshock infinite . That game to me was fkn awesome . I 100% that game and all the dlc . My biggest gaming disappointment in the past generation without a doubt was : 1: Mass effect andromeda - I was a huge me fan and that new one played for a few days and never touched it again . I know it’s not that that bad but for me it was pretty terrible. It just didn’t hook me. didn’t like the characters the missions the stakes. There’s a few other disappointments but nothing as bad as andromeda . To this day I still haven’t tried again let alone had the desire to beat it .

D2....was my relapse.

Fallout 4 is probably my most loathed game of all time. It took the best parts of Fallout, and either threw them away, or watered them down, so what was left was this piece of crap open world shooter. Assassin’s Creed Origins. Assassin’s Creed was one of the few big franchises built around stealth, discouraging open combat. I was so excited for Origins, I replayed the majority of the series before its release (skipping 1-Brotherhood), and then.. I got some generic RPG, Witcher knockoff only loosely resembling its predecessors. *sigh* I Am Setsuna. I’ll be the first to admit I’m not too big on JRPGs, but wanting a nice tutn based game I decided to pick it up. The combat was so darn boring, though. Can’t really explain it, but it was just.. Ugh.. I actually almost managed to power through it, ‘cause I was getting into the story, but then I got stuck at a boss because I started avoiding combat, because it was so boring.

(I’ll just comment what I replied to on someone else’s comment) GTA V. I don’t necessarily think it’s a terrible game, I honestly think the Story Mode is pretty good. But I do really dislike the Online Mode, it’s fun with friends and I enjoy the concept of it, but oh god. It’s community is awful. The tedious money grind gets insanely boring and repetitive really quick. I feel like GTA V is quite overrated, especially it’s Online Mode. But I don’t think it’s a bad game, as the Story Mode is still pretty good. But oh god, the controls are awful
