The New Taken King: Consider this theory

You know how the Whisper of the Worm mission ends with a boss fight against taken versions of old D1 bosses? Like Urzok and Valus Ta'aurc? Remember how it was stated that only living things can be taken? Urzok and Ta'aurc were dead. Killed by us. The only way for them to be taken then, was if they returned to life. Nokris was a necromancer. Someone who would bring back beings back to life in a legit magical way. For the time being, Nokris' fate is unknown. We may assume he's dead. But we know that the Mars-Hive have been contacting some very high-tier Hive after the defeat of Nokris and Xol (in one of the Mars adventures). So that means whoever has Taken Urzok and Ta'aurc also very likely has mastery over the soul fire and necromancy magic Nokris used. There are not many beings who would have the knowledge or power to do this. It seems more and more likely that Savathun is on the throne and way more powerful than anticipated. Because in case I need to spill it out: Necromany and the power of Taking combined is insanely OP since you can literally raise billions of beings that lived only to take them and restock your army. From a powerscale perspective this would make Savathun a much, MUCH greater threat than Oryx was. From a gameplay perspective: We could actually see even more old D1 enemies return as taken variants.

  • I can 100% assure you that it’s 50/50. It’s either Xol who has power over the Taken now, or Savathûn. 1. Xol’s already been spotted on Io communing with the Taken after we supposedly killed him, meaning he’s still alive. 2. The Io on Taken have been communing with Savathûn. Even named after Savathûn herself. So it’s either or.

  • I am almost sure that Savathûn has taken Oryx’s throne. I do believe, however, that the enemies in The Whisper were resurrected by Nokris or Xol, before being Taken by Savathûn. Nokris or Xol could even be Taken, and that’s how Savathûn is controlling them.

They want you to think that Savathune is the new taken leader, but we all know it really is Randal the Vandal.

      • <If not Nokris, probably Xol. I don't even know if Nokris has a throne world because he focused on intelligence rather than brute strength. Xol on the other hand, he taught Nokris. Still, your point stands.>
