Attunement of Chaos: Everything you need to know to make the greastest explosions bloom

Attunement of Chaos is path for the Warlock that focuses primarily on dealing explosive damage to multiple enemies. This guide will only cover abilities unique to the Attuement of Chaos and not normal Warlock abilities like Rifts or Jumps. Let's go over the ability nodes in the order in which they would be unlocked. + Entropic Pull - Damaging an enemy with this melee ability recharges a large portion of your grenade energy. That means it doesn't require a kill to work, slap anyone that's around. Once you've hit them you will rapidly replenish 40% of your grenade energy over one second. Since this buff is always 40% of your total energy it is actually more effective the less mods you have that reduce your cooldown. + Chaos Accelerant - Holding the grenade button will overcharge your grenade improving it, but in exchange for some of your super energy. It takes one second of of charging to fully "overcharge" the grenade. If the grenade is thrown early the charge will have no affect and the super energy will not be refunded (although you'll get it back in like one second anyway). If the player continues to hold the button after the grenade has been overcharged it will continue to drain their super at a rate of 2.8% per second. If the player consumes their super entirely their grenade will still continue to charge. The grenade will be thrown as soon as the grenade button is released. It is possible to cancel the ability without losing the grenade charge by meleeing or changing weapons, but the lost super energy will not be refunded. The overcharge does not directly increase the damage dealt by grenades, but rather the effect changes based on which grenade the player is using. • Nova Grenade increases its radius by 2m and its duration by 1s. (Defaults are 5m and 4s) • Axion Bolt increases its targeting range by 4m and adds 2 extra seekers. (Defaults are 10m and 2 seekers) • Scatter Grenade enables the scatter projectiles to track targets. + Bloom - Any enemy killed by any of the player's void abilities explodes, with the exception of the Bloom ability itself. The explosion has a range of 5m and deals moderate damage, but has extreme dropoff almost immediately. Some enemies will resist this ability and will not explode on death such as Vex Harpies. This is likely a bug though and not an intended mechanic. + Cataclysm - Turns Novabomb into a huge ball that tracks its targets and explodes into smaller tracking bombs. The Novabomb will travel in a straight line until it makes line of sight with an enemy within 25m in front of it, at which it will begin to track toward that target in an arc. It has no pathfinding and will simply try to find the shortest path to its target which may result in it colliding with walls or other geometry. The Novabomb has a strong initial burst of speed upon being released, then gradually gets slower the longer it travels. When first released it will travel 15m/s then gradually decay to 10m/s over the next 60m. After traveling 60m it suddenly drops down to a consistent 6.6m/s (which is slower than the default sprint speed) until it reaches its maximum distance of 120m. It will travel for 15 seconds unless it collides with something where it will instantly explode. If it does not colliding with anything before reaching its maximum distance it will automatically detonate itself. Any time it detonates it releases four seeker bombs that will burst from the Novabomb in random directions. These seeker collide with anything they will explode instantly. If they do not collide with another object within six seconds they will selfdetonate. The Novabomb can be detonated early by the player anytime by shooting it, in order to release the seekers immediately which travel faster than the Novabomb proper. Fun Facts • You can still use Glide while charging a grenade, thus allowing you to throw grenades while airborne similar to the Dawnblade's Winged Sun ability. However you must begin the charge before leaving the ground.

  • Once Graviton Lance gets it's upgrade and a Nezarec's Sin equipped you'll be a explosion machine. Graviton kills feeding Nezarec, feeding your grenades and super, making more explosions.

      • It's almost as if people could have gone into the game, and read the entire skill tree. Thank Bungo we have posts like this though.

        • All great things for PvE...but not necessarily for the Crucible. AoC enables you to use grenades more often but Voidwalker grenades lack potency in PvP. Cataclysm is a better Nova Bomb than Vortex but it has problems: - Sometimes detonating Cataclysm in the air can destroy the seekers it produces - Throw it at an enemy and....watch it....fly past them and not track anyone! - Yes it moves fast at first but after that? Slowva Bomb Now, that being said, here's why you should give Attunement of Chaos a try in the Crucible: Grenades may suck but they still do damage. Getting them more often can still help out as long as you throw it before you engage. Players also remember D1, so they see one of those Axiom seekers and ran away screaming lol. Now as for the Cataclysm Nova Bomb it has a HUGE blast radius. Much bigger than Vortex. In enclosed areas, or when a player doesn't notice it, the seekers are sneaky little OHK's. Remember that Competitive has no radar? Yeah often they literally won't see it coming. Oh and there's Bloom: stand too close to a teammate who goes down from a Voidwalker's grenade or a Cataclysm seeker and they'll be in for one hell of a surprise lol.

Thanks for collecting all the info and writing it down for us. In D1 I always used to do these things myself but given that D2 plays a bit slower and all I never bothered. Willing to do more breakdowns of the subclasses and subtrees?

            • Thanks for the analysis. I've used the Attunement of Chaos skill tree but I'm now curious to give it a go now that I understand it better.

            • I'm pretty sure an overcharged Axion Bolt grenade gets more than 1 extra axion dart, I think it gets up to 5 total.
