OLDSCRATCH pulls out his shotgun, and Runner loads his magazine with lightning. The sound of rockets fills the sky. It grows louder and louder. The two look up, only to see a giant flying robot fly right past them. It lands in front of them, and it starts to stand up. It seems at least 20 feet tall, and with a body reminiscent to a jet...except filled with razor sharp metal. It is armed with two swords, each edged with an orange glow. It’s sharp fingers grasp the grips of the sword, and on its elbow is a sharp metal feather. Its arms are thin, and its hand has retractable claws, as sharp as a razor. The legs of the robot are thin, yet attached to it are rockets, and the robot is equipped with wings on its back, each with razor sharp metal pieces strung together like feathers, along with rockets attached to its back. It’s head resembles a mechanical version of an eagle’s face. Its claws on its feet extend, and it’s wings unfold, as it readies for the battle. Runner and OLDSCRATCH back up to where the central building once was. The robot screams, it’s cry resembling that of a eagle, but unnatural, and it propels itself forward towards the two survivors. Runner dodges to the side as the monstrosity swipes its sword to the left, leaving an orange haze around the area. The robot then swings its other sword towards OLDSCRATCH, propelling its attack with rockets, and it hits, sending OLDSCRATCH flying into a nearby building. His shotgun lands in front of him, and he reaches for it. The robot propels towards him and raises its sword on its right hand. In a panicked attempt, OLDSCRATCH pulls out his sledgehammer and tries guarding with its handle. As the sword collides with the sledgehammer, the robot activates its rockets on its arm, further increasing the power of its attack. OLDSCRATCH struggles to push the sword away, until his sledge hammer’s handle crack in half, and the recoil sends the robot back a little. OLDSCRATCH survives the attack, unscathed, but at the cost of his hammer. He picks up his shotgun, pumps it, and lets out a shot. It staggers the robot, and OLDSCRATCH throws his broken sledgehammer away. The robot is then battered by some crackling shots, each making a dent into his wings. It looks up, and sees Runner on top of a building, shooting at it. Suddenly, it reaches for OLDSCRATCH, and as it grabs him, Runner keeps unloading rounds. The robot, with OLDSCRATCH struggling to escape from its grasp, unfolds its wings and propels itself upward. In a moment’s notice it is already high up in the air. Runner stops firing to charge up his gun with lightning, but the robot utilizes this opportunity. It lifts OLDSCRATCH up, its bone-like arm up in the air, and propels its arm forward. Then, it throws OLDSCRATCH towards Runner. Runner, now with a fully charged clip, tries to dodge, but OLDSCRATCH crashes into him and the two fall of the building. They both land with a crash, and Runner is dazed. The robot lands in front of them. It slowly lifts its two arms, and hits the swords against each other, creating sparks and a flame on the edge of each sword. It slowly activates its rockets on its arm, preparing to unleash a devastating attack. OLDSCRATCH then does something heroic: he grabs the dazed Runner and throws him out into the rubble of the central building, away from the robot’s reach. Runner grunts as he hits the ground, and he looks back at the robot to see it propel its arm forward. Its arm comes forward at tremendous speed, and the sword hits OLDSCRATCH, and his armor emits a red glow. He is sent flying, and his shotgun is whacked out of his hand. The robot recoils back, as it feels the intense force that OLDSCRATCH’s armor has applied on it. It lets out another bloodcurdling scream, and flies towards OLDSCRATCH. Runner frantically gets up and shoots a charged shot, but to no avail. OLDSCRATCH is picked up by the robot. Suddenly, the robot jumps up into the sky, hovers in place a bit, and throws OLDSCRATCH towards the bleachers above. Runner gasps as he sees OLDSCRATCH crash into the crowd; Runner is the only one left. Runner takes out his xiphos blade, now charged with lightning. The robot slides in front of him, sharpening its swords and eyeing Runner closely. Suddenly, a wolf’s howl is heard. The robot looks behind it to see a wolf holding part of OLDSCRATCH’s sledgehammer. Runner slides past the robot, and quickly retrieves the broken sledgehammer from the wolf. The wolf skitters back the way it came from, and Runner readies himself. The robot charges forward, and sparks fly everywhere as Runner hits its legs with his sword, cutting off wires. The robot screams, and kneels for a while. Runner keeps slicing and slicing, until the robot’s leg has completely come off. The robot screams louder this time, and it tries balancing on one leg. It fails, and it falls to the ground. It then flies up and stays in the air. Runner is shocked; besting this opponent is no easy feat. Then he looks at the broken sledgehammer that he’s holding, which is covered in radioactive material. He then looks at his hand, which is surging with lightning. He wonders for a moment, then a wolffish grin fills his face. He puts his sword into its sheathe, and he grasps the sledgehammer with both hands. The robot is hovering above him, charging up another attack. Runner focuses...and suddenly lightning crackles out of the hammer’s tip. Runner holds the hammer in one hand, and with all his might, throws it at the robot. The robot is hit by the flying hammer, and as soon as it collides with the robot, sparks fly, and metal shards break apart. The robot falls to the ground, lying down with the hammer still stuck in its chest. It tries crawling towards Runner, but Runner, at this point, has his gun out. Runner charges up his gun, and lightning comes crackling out of it at its sides. He pulls the trigger and... a giant bolt shoots out of the barrel. The robot is hit in the head, and the bolt’s impact explodes the robot’s head. The robot’s body goes limp, and what once was a mechanical menace is now nothing but a pile of metal. Runner looks at the barrel of his gun, which is now busted open due to the power of the bolt. He looks back up at the crowd, who is yelling out his name and throwing flowers from the bleachers. Runner lifts his hand up, and a lightning bolt strikes down onto his hand. The crowd goes wild. The victor is RunnerGunner-.
