Is Battle Royale a fad that needs to die? Why,?

I played fortnite when it first came out because it filled the gaming gaps that I had after d2 was a flop, and I had pretty much beaten warframe. But once it became popular, it really pissed me off and too many people started to try to hard, and I’ve been slowly playing it less and less.

It's ingenious. A mode where if you (solo, double, trio, squad) is the last standing you were the "best" for the match. Most people just want that winning feeling and the opportunity to say "I/we were the best". Me personally, I'll stick with D2 and darksouls with a peppering of Fortnite for the dry spells.

2 RepliesAs a genre, it has it's place, and I can respect that people like the genre. What I can't respect is how literally every game coming out "needs" a BR gamemode, especially since it's likely to cut into actual development (see recent rumors about Black Ops 4).

It's ok but I hate bandwagon idiots. Almost everyone on my friends list is playing fortnite like it's the best game to ever be made. Chill the -blam!- out. It's just ok. Pick up a real game like mass effect, God of War, skyrim, Witcher 3, or Uncharted. -blam!-ing scrubs

I play fortnite every now and then. I just usually play it when i have friends who want to group or if a new mode is out. Thats really about it. I dont hate it as much as others, and i understand its a growing genre in some games, but it honestly shouldnt die. Other's enjoy the genre and i respect their choice. Some hate it and i respect their choice.

1 Replywhy does it need to die. why are people excited for it to die. you play what you like and let others enjoy this trend while it lasts. personally i love fortnite and im pretty good at it and i don’t understand why people want it to die. if you don’t like it that’s fine but just play something else and don’t look forward to the downfall of a game that millions of people are enjoying right now.

don't really care. when the mod released on Arma i had a little fun with it, played PUBG for some time, gave Fortnite a shot. it's a fun mode, but nothing that will stick around forever due to it's nature of being very simplistic and not really digs too deep into the competitive part of gaming. there'll be a few more BR games before the market gets oversaturated with them and communities start splitting and thinning out. there really is only that much you can do with BR games.Fortnite probably is offering the best BR game currently, but i don't like it too much because i'm more of a tactical FPS fan.

It's just a newish game mode variation. I'm not really going to play it (especially a game built around the mode) and I'm going to avoid games that cut main content for the mode but I'm not going to try to stop people from playing.

MOBAS, hero shooters, shared world shooters, it keeps happening. It also needs to die, it will, but I am more meaning the following the trend to make money issue. That won't because people are greedy but you get the idea.

I think having a game that everyone knows something about is a good thing. But it DOES need to get toned down on the YouTube side of things. Dear god, the amount of clickbait and obvious fake stuff makes me cringe so hard.

I never liked battle royales much. Even the best one I've played isn't all that good. It's way too boring if you ask me.
