Potential Clan Changes/Reworks

TLDR: Changes to Clans need to be made. Change Clan Engrams and Hawthorne to reward Clan specific gear, gear that can only be earned if you are in a Clan. Clans should be rewarded for taking Guardians through Guided Games. Have Hawthorne be a guaranteed source of Masterworks for Clans. Give Clan logo/tags more meaning in game (Clan emblem, put Clan tag on various gear, etc). Clan Founders/Admins better tools to manage their Clans. This is a long one. I put the TLDR at the top for those that don't want to read it all. For those that do, I appreciate your thoughts/feedback. I was very excited about Clans at the start of Destiny 2. I'm the leader of a sub-clan that is part of a larger network of related Clans and we were all stoked about the future of Clans and all of the awesome potential features that Destiny 2 could bring to Clans. It sucks to say, but many of the Clan features that were implemented in Destiny 2 haven't quite panned out the way I think Bungie may have intended. Things such as Clan Engrams haven't worked out. They de-incentivize play and remove some of the grind. I understand that some people in Clans aren't able to play as much, that's totally fine. But why would they feel incentivized to run an activity if they don't have to do anything and they can get all of the gear from a specific activity? I know that I am potentially in the minority on this particular issue since I am in a sub-clan that is part of a large network, but people are also less incentivized to play with others outside of their specific Clan because if they do, they will not get the Clan Engram for that particular activity (Raid, Nightfall, etc). People are so focused about obtaining these Engrams that they're removing themselves from interacting with other great Guardians in the community. In a game that is built on that interaction with other players, incentivizing closing oneself from these interactions seems like a deviation from that vision. Something needs to be done with Clans. I've come up with a few different ideas on new features/reworks that could be added to Clans. Not claiming they are the best or anything, but things that could potentially do good things for Clans. Clan Engrams/Loot: For this idea I am not completely scrapping the idea of Clan Engrams, just how what they contain/how they work. What if Hawthorne instead of being a person we go to whenever we see a flashing icon over her, what if she was a vendor that sold things other than weak Uncommon gear? She could have her own loot table containing Clan specific gear: weapon sets, armor sets, sparrows, ships, shaders, etc. But the only way you could earn this loot would be by being part of a Clan. You could earn this gear by simply being a part of a Clan and filling up that Clan XP bar and doing activities with fellow Clan members, others who are in a Clan, or someone who isn't even in a Clan. This is opening that door a bit, giving incentives to players to play with others who might not be in their Clan. This could give players more incentives to get involved. There would have to be some sort of weekly limit on this so players couldn't earn everything in a short amount of time. I think Guided Games could also play a big part in earning these as well. Clan members who guide Guardians through the Nightfall or Raid would be able to earn an additional one of these new Clan Engrams. Hawthorne & Masterworks: I think another potentially good tweak for Hawthorne would be to give her a weekly rotating set of Masterwork weapons/armor. If need be, put a limit on only picking up 1 weapon and 1 armor piece per week. But this would be a great way to give players guaranteed sources of Masterworks each week. Making Clan banners/logos mean something: One thing I would love to be able to represent in game would be my Clan tag/symbol. It would be cool to be able to apply the Clan logo to an armor piece or a weapon. Something like this could be standard on a potential Clan armor/weapon set. Or if a player wanted to apply their Clan logo/tag to a different piece of gear, introduce a special mod that could make that happen. Better Clan Admin tools: The tools that are currently available to Clan Founders/Admins are not that great. We need better tools to better service our Clans. Tools such as more readily available and detailed statistics on Clan activity.

I’ll point out a good one for Bungie to start! The idea of rewarding players for finishing objectives together is a great idea and the free engrams should go, period, this idea to reward teams from the same clan should be the staple as free is lazy and doesn’t do anything for the clan! Do away with the free engrams and give those engrams back when teaming up and completing each objectives each week! Promotes team play and rewards slightly more engrams but at the cost/reward of teaming up as a clan! an excellent idea dude! 👍🏻 Edit: also add greater incentives per seasonal reward for clans playing together, have a score based threshold for individual activity in helping others once your objectives are complete and also an extra special reward for the highest scoring clan per season! 👍🏻

  • Banshee should be involved with Masterworks, not Hawthorne... BUT I like your idea on Hawthorne being the Clan vendor. This is where players can earn more Clan customization options and applications to their gear. The more clan mates in a fireteam, the more bonus XP there should be in completed activities. Full fireteams of six should get a max multiplier plus an ultimate bonus. When it comes to weekly clan XP, I'd have it scaled to how many are in the clan to be fair; it helps the smaller clans ;-) Good feedback!

    • Each clan should be able to submit a design for their own clan colours or clan emblem.
