A different kind of strike: blowing up ships?

During the prologue our guardian boards the cabal warship leading the assault on the Last City with the goal of disabling its shields so that the city’s defenses/aircraft could take it out, unfortunately this never happens in the end. Lately I’ve found myself wondering: why not introduce strikes against the Cabal (or even the Fallen) where our goal isn’t to just eliminate one of their leader/commanders but to take down one of their ships? When it comes to the cabal’s ships, I can see us doing this by taking down its shields like in the prologue so that our fighters can take care of the rest, or even by having our ghosts “hack” the ship’s fuel like we did in EDZ adventure: Red Legion, Black Oil. However we manage to sabotage the ship, the remainder of the strike could require us to fight our way to a Hawk (piloted by Holliday presumably) who will transport us to a area where we’ll get to see our work unfold as the ship comes crashing down (and where we’ll find the reward chest as well). The bottom line is that I think it would help to introduce strikes that are (even slightly) different from what we’ve been getting since Destiny 1.

  • interesting idea this actually reminded me of an random idea for a bounty (the idea is that we have kill this high value centurion/colossus that is positioned in a cabal warship and we have to assassinate him by going into the cabal warship and taking down the warship's engines after that the target will flee into a dropship while a player is chasing him he manges to escape (while the warship crashes into another one nearby)and we have to chase the centurion to a nearby cabal base and he will bring forth two goliath tanks and a lots of cabal soldiers while he is shooting at you. after you dealt with the tanks and the target you get skyburners oath(if not you get an exotic you did not get).

    • "That's too hard. Besides, thinking outside the box just isn't part of our culture here. We prefer simplistic unimaginative strikes that require little effort. We wouldn't want our players to tax their brains too much with fresh ideas. It might cloud their ability to buy Bright Engrams." -- Bungie

    • It would be too cintamatic and require wayyy too much work to make. Besides bungie is busy doing IMPORTANT things like combining emblems and auras. Limiting customization is way more important then creating good missions/strikes.

    • Great idea. I’d play that. Buuuuuut Bungie doesn’t like good ideas or fun at the moment...

    • I do actually pity you. And anyone else who reads this thread! What you have suggested is a wonderful idea! Something myself and many others have never even considered. But bungie hates good ideas, especially ideas suggested by their player base who they seem to hold in utter contempt. Another great idea we'll never get to play!

        • Great idea. Something different than the usual trope of knocking off yet another leader of the enemy faction. And there could even be a race to abandon the ship before it 'splodes.
Oh wait, a race implies a timer, and people hate timers because it makes them uncomfortable...😣😣😣
