FACTION WARS: @dmg04 @COZMO PLEASE SUPPORT THIS IDEA

Faction Wars General Description: The Faction Wars is a new survival based game mode that brings the PVP and PVE experience together like never before! In the Faction Wars, Players battle each other and the darkness for territory across returning planets such as Mars, Venus, the Moon, the Dreadnaught, and the Cosmodrome/Plaguelands. Players must fight for control of zones by completing quests and patrols, which yield resources that can be used to fortify bases that house chests, exclusive weapons, and vehicles. Players can enter enemy zones and engage in world PVP to disrupt the opposing Faction's hold on the each Zone, and ultimately the planet itself. Zones left unattended will be taken over by the darkness, which causes territory to become darkness zones, with a chance to spawn WORLD BOSSES that require cross Faction Alliances to defeat. All gear and resources gained must be deposited at each players base(subsequently dropping when a player is killed) creating intense moments when players enter an opposing Faction's territory. Players can check the status of the Faction Wars through the director, giving clans a birds eye view of the situation on the ground. The Faction Wars drop exclusive gear, weapons, and shaders, featuring perks that enhance player's abilities while taking part in the on going Faction War, on top of monthly rewards for the Faction that controls the most Territory! Guardians Join the Faction wars! Take back our worlds from the Darkness, fight for territory, gear, and glory! This is just the general description, as time goes on, and if the post gets some steam I will be breaking down into further detail about how to implement this idea from an efficient development standpoint, as well as how this could impact the game and generate fun and interest for casuals, hardcore players, PVP players, PVE players, and the twitch community. GIMME some feedback (The text in the third picture if you cant read it: If, for example a FWC player kills an enemy player in a new monarchy zone, FWC will earn (a) point(s) in that zone if the player gets back to their own zone. new monarchy can do the same, but they dont have to return, since theyre already in their own zone. if FWC has the most points in that zone at the end of the day (daily reset) they now own that zone. zone which have less than [X amount] of points for each faction will be consumed by the darkness. a boss spawns and all players have to kill it to 'progress'. PvP and earning points is not a thing until boss is dead. when dead, PvP and earning points in that zone continues, but the zone is not owned by any faction. faction which holds the most zones at the end of the week wins the war) Update: Mrenclave reminded me to add the Dreadnaught: It would be such a different type of Environment that would be very fresh compared to the more open environments! Also, he reminded me of the Plaguelands! Update: Blade329 gave the great suggestion of being able place a bounties on players in the Faction Wars! This would create some awesome scenarios! Update: bulletw1st and Blade329 added some great suggestions on having the faction wars return to the REPUTATION format as opposed to tokens, and bulletw1st wanted a clear reward structure that is clear from your pledge to the faction: I proposed a faction journal, similar to the age of triumph book, with milestones to complete! Update: A great suggestion by Azurephoenix999 on how to include players who don’t want to take part in the world PVP: “If guardians can change what faction they're in (for the sake of collecting the armor sets and stuff, this should 100% be a thing), then they should also be able to change their faction to "unaffiliated", or something similar. This would basically mark all guardians as their allies, preventing them from harming or being harmed by them. This would allow them to go into these zones and dig into the PvE content without being harassed by griefers.” Update: per some pretty good back and forth with Ironbill, I’ve come to the conclusion PVE/PVP Dynamic is a very sensitive issue, considering the changes made for PVP in D2. The best way to proceed with a mode such as Faction Wars would be to have an option to select to go into a PVE or PVP patrol zone, this way players who don’t want to worry about potentially being grieved can take part in the Faction War, pledged to a Faction with no limits. These players can still enjoy the sandbox ecology of fighting the minions of Darkness, alone or with buddies. UPDATE: Guys, lets keep imagining what Destiny could be and get some energy surrounding creative ideas.
