Bungie needs to understand why we play this game.
It's not for the vivid unique story missions. It's not for the vast open world and mysteries. It's not even for the extravagant fulfilling raids...
It's for the LOOT.
Seriously, think back to when we used to farm omnigul for hours. Did we do it because omnigul was such a blast of an experience we had to enjoy it agai and again? HELL NO! It's because we wanted that sweet God roll grasp. In fact, that's what I spent probably 80% of my thousands of hours doing in d1: farming for loot.
The content in Destiny is boring, as sad as it is I have to say it. It's always been boring. There's only so many ways you can kill aliens. And this leads me to what this game needs going forward.
We can't get random rolls back because too many scrubs cried for nerfs in pvp and ruined the pve experience for all of us. So there goes 80% of the time we would've spent playing the game. So what do we do now? Well, it's complicated. First, the pve content has to make some sort of miracle pop out because grinding for set rolls is not fun at all, and it takes 100% of the fun out of pve. There is now zero incentive to play any pve content. (I'm just going to jump out and say it now: if you only play Destiny for the pvp, you are in the wrong game franchise. There are a million better pvp games than this one, so don't spew your one-sided feedback and screw the game for those of us who play the game in its entirety.) Pve content needs to somehow evolve from being just a looter shooter. Perhaps the game world needs to evolve into a 50% social space 50% action world. And in the social areas, give us lands to explore and quests and mysteries to uncover. Give us stuff to do rather than just shooing the same mob of aliens over and over. Second, pvp needs more modes that are FUN. Who remembers griffball? THAT was fun. Capture the flag is fun. Big team battle was fun. Clash is very VERY boring (tryhards go back to csgo and pubG).
1 of two things needs to happen to save the game. 1: evolve the game world to be diverse and mysterious and explorable to compensate for the loss of loot farming. 2: bring back random rolls and save yourself a headache. Destiny is not going to be an ESport. It's not gonna happen. Might as well accept it and focus on giving us stuff to do.

1 ReplyI like D2, but I really miss grinding for those random rolled weapons and missing those weapons in general. I have a FWC scout in D1 with Full Auto, Firefly and Outlaw, and other iterations of it that are really good. That's what I am missing the most in D2, removed imo for PVP balance.

While you may tolerate what you feel is boring game play, in pursuit of "worthwhile" loot....I'm won't. I'm a game play purist. You can put all the "sweet loot" you want in the game, if I don't enjoy the game play....I'm gone. Or if I feel that the game play has become repetitive and unenjoyable (for me), I'm also gone. But does Bungie need to make changes to the game in order to make it **more** attractive to players like yourself? Yes.

1 ReplyAre you saying you farmed Omnigul for a god rolled Grasp to use in PvE? We all know the only reason to grind for that was to use it in PvP. Those perks didn't make as much of a difference in PvE to justify that type of grinding.

1 ReplyGrinding for rolls? That's not why I played Destiny 1. I played for the loot when it mattered back in the vanilla days. I played to level up that loot. After TTK released there were very few weapons worth grinding for and they really only made a slight difference. The game became less and less of a grinder with every update and you are just complaining now. Putting random rolls on weapons would fix the game for you? I've been playing for cosmetics for the last couple years because the gear really didn't matter. D2 is just more of the same for me.

4 RepliesFYI you don't speak for "everyone" and certainly not me I enjoy destiny (You won't hurt my feelings by calling me a scrub) and while some of the changes you want don't directly effect me and the way I enjoy playing this game - one thing will... Your request to return to RNG. I personally like static rolls - I don't mind farming tokens for gear - but in no way would I want to return to having to grind this game for the perfect weapon just so I can be on a leveled playing field with hard core PvP players Personally I feel like I put in too many hours into this game daily - but I know that many others truly invest more time than me - but my time is just as valuable as theirs - and being honest RNG is not a symbol of achievement, you just got lucky. It could take you months of grinding or a few hours to get your God roll grasp of malock. Solution: introduce more weapons (which the DLC will do) and the eventual change of the meta. If this happens every season (which appears to be roughly every 3 months) then I don't see a problem unless you can't adapt

They don't even know what the word communication actually means, and if they did, they wouldn't be hiding like a child from their player base.

5 RepliesI'm pretty sure this is a joke. Its kind of funny. After I read it, I see where you're going. Yeah, it needs to innovate, I would say. There's plenty of reason why this world is so cool, and worth the effort. If you take away the grind, the game is forced to hold up on its content. I think there still are plenty of things to log in for. I have been doing it for as long as I've had the game. Plenty of great weapons for both PvE and PvP to complete your arsenal. Plenty of good armor pieces and cool looking armor worth chasing. I think its safe to say people just want more of what Bungie does with its worlds. I also think its safe to say that the next DLC is going to be the right direction as far as what should be added to the game. More things to explore, more stuff to see. Getting relevant weapons is great fun, but people shouldn't be forced to slog through content to get it. There's a reasonable pace that D1 just didn't have. I like the fact that D2 places more emphasis on reward, rather than time investment. I'd rather feel like there is a tangible reason to do things, than feel like I have the odds stacked against me.

Easy... Space Magic and Loot. But apparently Space Magic is frowned upon in Crucible and Loot is frowned upon in PvE... so its a no win situation.

No, we play it because the made out (like bandits) that we'd enjoy it and have hours of countless joy and fun.
