[SUGGESTION] Weapon & Modification Improvements for End-Game & Sidearm Slot

Greetings Guardians/Bungie, Here are my thoughts/suggestions on what I would find to be an interesting and fun game loop/progression for the Weapon & Mod system, as well as a Sidearms opinion. [Sidearms] - Make Sidearms it's own weapons slot, that all players have - Would make sidearms more viable and utilized as a support weapon rather than occupying an important kinetic or energy slot - Could be mapped (on console) to a thumb-stick click - [Opinion] Would be cool to have Sidearms visible on gear in unique spot per Class --- Ex: Titans have it on the hip, Warlocks on their lower back, Hunters on their boot/calf [Weapons & Mods] In the current state of non-randomized weapon rolls, my suggestion for improving the progression of weapons is to implement intelligent customization of weapons through the mods system & the Gunsmith. - Reintroduce the Weapon Manufacturers through the Gunsmith --- Suros --- Omolon --- Hakke --- (Introduce other Manufacturers) - Similar to D1, the Gunsmith will provide test weapons each week that the player can use to progress their reputation/knowledge of that Weapon Manufacturer --- These reward Traits related to the weapon manufacturer, or unlock them in tiers for the player to acquire that Trait to be added to Manufacturer compatible weapons. ----- Ex: Suros unique Trait, Omolon unique Trait. These are the White Icon in the first column of Weapon details --- Each Manufacturer can have several unique Traits that can be acquired and applied to the Trait slot --- This loop can also be applied to other Weapon slots - Weapons can be customized in defined categories (these are examples but should be defined) --- Trait (manufacturer) --- Scope --- Barrel/Trigger --- Ammunition --- Unique (Outlaw/DragonFly/Etc) - Mod Designs/Blueprints --- The player can unlock/reward/purchase Mod blueprints for Weapons that apply to those traits listed above. --- This adds collection & also game loop to progress and unlock, maybe certain Unique slots can be tied to progression (such as to Unlock Dragonfly kill 100 enemies with precision damage while using a Suros Weapon) - Mods can be a craft-able component using materials gathered in the world, similar to D1 --- Vendors can also sell bulk materials with Legendary shards like in D1 --- To craft a Scope component for example, requires 10 gun-parts & 10 materials from EDZ & 10 from Titan ------ This gives players wanting to be in the world and grind the option to gather materials on their own, or buy the materials in bulk from the vendor from excess Legendary shards. [Summary] My suggestion is to think of the weapon a player receives, as a weapon frame that they can customize each slot with an unlocked component or trait by putting emphasis on the progression with the gunsmith and Weapon manufacturers. This alleviates the request for random weapons rolls, and instead puts more control and progression in the players hands; players still need to use the gunsmith to progress a Weapon Manufacturer rank/expertise for example to get access to components to craft for each slot. Also, giving all players a Sidearm slot where a Sidearm can always be equipped without occupying a Kinetic or Energy slot. These are just my personal opinions and suggestions on what I feel as a D1 player would excite me and add some progression/end-game goals. Thanks.
