Did the traveler summon(choose) those pyramideons (darkness? Vex?) that came to life at the end of the campaign.

Should we expect an upcoming plot twist with the travelers true motives or is the traveler calling out in a distress?
Little is known about the origins of the traveler and why I find this an interesting topic.
(If I missed a topic that is relative to this plz link)
It is all speculation.
