MOTW understanding

I don't have anything against any of the winners or mentions of the MOTW award, but I have a hard time understanding this week's selections in general. Since last Friday, my submission was either number 1 or 2 in the number of likes and views on the creation page the entire week. My issue is, I don't understand the selection progress of this weekly ritual. I was so excited at my odds to at least be mentioned after monitoring my video since last Friday, I even messaged the guy who had the 2nd most likes as well, telling him how what a wonderful video he had. At the time of this post, I had 420 likes, he had 408 likes, and the 3rd most likes had about 150 (I didn't really monitor him). Of those 3 with the top likes, none of us were even mentioned. This really put a damper in my mood as I don't even know what it takes to win this award anymore. This was my 4th time submission, 3 in D1, and the first in D2. This was by far my best opportunity to win, or even get mentioned. Even after getting the most likes on the creation page for any video this past week, I never even got mentioned. I'm not trying to be a drama queen or anything, but just help me understand. Thanks to whoever responds. Update: Deej reached out to me via DM on Reddit helping me understand their process on selection. Thank you for the response Deej!

So, I read about this, and it intrigued me. I've never posted anything to User Creations, but you never know, sometime something funny or interesting or whatnot might occur in the game, and seem worthy of sharing with the community. Something that might possibly be "MOTW" submission worthy. However, it would be nice to know if the message from Deej had any helpful information for the rest of the Destiny community. I'm sure much was intended solely for you, and of course I respect that. But if there's anything that could be shared about the process, such as if vids need to be uploaded to YouTube for consideration, or if there's indeed a time gap involved (like it may take 3-4 weeks, even longer, between submission and consideration, because they're busy or whatnot) that's the sort of info that would be useful for the community imho. Anyway, whatever you feel you could share, tips you could pass along, or if Cozmo or Deej wants to speak to this directly, would be great I think. Just for future reference, and to clear some things up perhaps. Thanks all :)

How many likes your video gets on the forums is irrevelent to winning MOTW. It's all up to Cozmo (occasionally Deej I guess) to pick them. I suppose the likes a video has can help influence the decision, but in the end it's all up to the judges discretion. Is that kinda frustrating for people like you who get many likes on the forum creation page then never win the MOTW? Yeah. Sorry bout that :/

  • Your video way WAY better than the cringe-worthy one that won.

    • Doesn't actually work like that I'm afraid, You have to impress the judge not the audience and generally from what I've noticed is that it needs to be on "you tube" more so than this forum also the time frame seems to be like 3 weeks after it gains traction before it comes close to being MOW, hope that helps and good luck guardian

    • Very strange. It's like they were just drunk this week.

      • That doesn't seem to make sense if you had the most likes, shouldn't they mention you as least? I wonder if Deej or Cozmo will even see this
