It's not that this game isn't good (I have personally fallen in love with this franchise), but that could be made even greater. There are problems that could be glazed over at first, but they later become more and more prevalent. Here is a good one that should be taken into account for the game: The Characters A big problem is that characters throughout the game lack some crucial facet of personality. For example, here's how one might describe Zavala in Destiny 2: Zavala in a Nutshell (so far): Zavala: "The City has been taken by the Red Legion and its discount Bane leader Ghaul! Lets rally our forces at Titan to strike back!" Random Lightless Guardian: "But Zavala, what if there are enemy aliens located on Titan? We need to make careful preparations, especially since we have no Light." Zavala: "Light, blight, who cares? I don't. Onwards to Titan!" [Much Later, On Titan...] Zavala: "Why on Earth are our men being slaughtered!?" Lightless Guardian: "Zavala, as my [barely functioning] Ghost can attest, we're being slaughtered because the Hive have infested Titan's archologies, and our fellow Guardians are rushing in, guns blazing, and are getting killed in the process!" Zavala: "And why aren't you helping them out? To the battlefield at once!" Lightless Guardian's Ghost: "With all due respect, Zavala, it's pointless; 95% of our men have been slaughtered. You seem oddly confident, how about you help out?" Zavala: "No time! I must stand here like a stoic Greek God in order to motivate our fellow Guardians!" (Now Hopeless) Lightless Guardian: "Come on, sir. Do you even realize the Light is gone? Ugg... Time to go die, I guess..." [Our Main Character Arrives!] Zavala (Addressing Main Character): "Turn Back! We've already lost too many Lightless guardians to the Hive!" Sloane (sarcastic): "Oh, so NOW you realize our main problem, Zavala?" Zavala: "What do you mean problem, Sloane?" Sloane: "Zavala, our entire vanguard is dead, and you didn't even bat an eye." Ghost (Main Character): "Excuse me, you two. WE have our Light back." Zavala: "Magnificent! Why were we worried in the first place?" Main Character (Worried): "Uh, sir? I don't think I'm going to be enough. Could you maybe assist me in killing the Hive? You know, with your "Titanic" strength and all..." Zavala: "I cannot! I must stand here like a god amongst men!" Main Character and Sloane: "This is gonna be a LONG day..." [The Hive Go Splat, I Guess. And Then...] Zavala: "...Without the Light, are we even Guardians anymore?" Main Character (whispering): "I guess not, if he's our commander." Zavala: [Rambles on about the plan for the Almighty and his fireteam] Sloane (Whispering): "I now accept Zavala jokes as payment, if you're interested." Ghost: "Good. We're in." [Zavala Finishes Rambling. Later, on Nessus...] Cayde-6: "Wait. ZAVALA needs me?" Ghost: "Yes. Apparently he's gone senile." [Later, on Io...] Asher Mir: "I will ask Zavala: Do you know what the Almighty's destructive capacity is in Zetajoules? And he will answer 'No, Asher, because I am an obstinate fool!'" Main Character: "You're right there. We need your help more than ever in this case." Asher: "[sigh] I saw this coming. Makes sure he doesn't do anything ELSE stupid." [Preparing For the Strike on the City and the Almighty...] Zavala (Sample Speech): ..."And we will rush in and take the Cabal head on!" Hawthorne: "Zavala, we should be more prepared in case our forces are massacred. May I remind you that all of our Guardians are Lightless except one?" Main Character: "We can fix that. We found a shard of the Traveler that we can all use, at least temporarily." Zavala: "This is my call, Guardian. We'll fill the Red Legion chock full of holes!" Everyone Else: "Well he's gonna die." [During the Assault...] Zavala: "[Pinned down by a Centurion or something] Help me! I'm gonna die!" Everyone Else (Deadpanning): "NOW you care?" Do you see the problem now? If we have characters like this it could be a problem later on. Our Main Character doesn't even speak; his Ghost does all the talking, Zavala is WAY too stoic, and Ghaul is never intimidating enough (he just "noinks" you off his ship when you first meet him). We need to fix these things as soon as possible, and if we, do, it will be GREAT in the future.
