Bungie created a genre with Destiny 1 and killed it with Destiny 2.

The pseudo-rpgmmo loot-and-shoot us die hard guardians loved back in Destiny 1 is dead. Bungie stripped away almost half of the aspects that made Destiny 1 so great. Destiny 2 is so watered down so that Bungie could cater toward the causal player, to let them hop on the game and have fun in the short amount of time they will be here. No more grind for the hardcore players, no more fun RNG, no more end game activities that actually matter. Players that dedicate their time hours on end get little reward in destiny 2. Bungie should have used Destiny 1 as a platform to build on, not take away from. This game could have been so much more but all i see is an average FPS with a "loot table". Destiny is not the loot and shoot rpg that it once was. We can only hope that by the time DLC comes around that the playerbase for D1 is less casual so that bungie can reshape this game into something we love and less so just a hot mess of missed opportunities.
