If you're having a hard time at callus, this is your problem

Communication is a skill not generally associated w video games and certainly isnt a skill that most people develop by playing video games. I've noticed most adults who have real jobs are easier to raid with than players who have more skill. A lot of teens and people who don't get out much just have a hard time communicating effectively with a team to achieve a goal. You don't have to be a working adult to communicate well in a raid, but you are more likely to have better communication skills if you are. Learn when to talk, learn when to shut up, learn when to lead, learn when to follow. The only thing that matters is achieving the goal, so if whatever you are doing or saying doesn't specifically further that goal, then don't do or say it. Show some self control. Inb4 I have to edit this: extensive experience in destiny raids should improve your communication skills, you don't necessarily have to be an adult w a good job to be a good raider Edit: I've noticed everyone that commented early largely agreed and now that the thread is trending all the salty salts out there started salting the thread w their salt And being bad at destiny can obviously hold you back, but again I'm speaking in general terms
English

  • Or you have someone in your raid group that kept dying in the shadow realm so you put him in the throne room and he keeps dying there but the raid leader won't boot him?

  • You just made post telling people to learn how to do this and that. You're no help. If you wanted to help, try teaching instead of barking commands. You sound just like the unintelligent unsocial no life gamers you just described. Everyone already know communication is key and it's people like you who are the worst type of people to raid with. You expect too much and then yell and bark commands thinking you're in charge and that everyone understand. When really what you should be doing is TEACHING your raid squad exactly how to communicate by using specific call outs and such. If you can't stand randoms in a raid then don't try leading a fireteam into one because you are the least equipped person to do so.

    • I did it with no mic, whole raid Most part its just 4 people talking. In calus, just symbol call outs while we clear adds. Gardens, 3 People call out including one guide. Pools, Hot potato Gauntlet 2 people per team of 3. You dont really need a whole team if you know what youre doing

      • After beating callus, i honestly sat and thought to myself, this was a very boring boss fight. It was not very intense, ads are easy to take care of, and the only problem solving during the fight is which psion to melee. Theres little finess, and prestige mode needs to make a huge jump in difficulty in order to be a true challenge. Let me tell you this. I love all of destiny's raids. Im a year 2 player but i have beaten all of them just because i wanted to try the original raids. They all have fun mechanics to learn, but i want mechanics that are hard to learn, and hard to practice. Thats what makes things fun, the challenge. The challenge seperates those who are committed from those who are not. With a challenge, if you are 270 power and amazing at finesse, you can outshine the 300 power who barely lives because only his power is higher. I like this raid, but in my opinion, i feel there may be more they could add even to just normal mode.

        •
Learn when to shut up.
I can not stress that topic enough in raid groups. The only people who should NEED to speak are the ones in the succ dimension, and they only need to say 3 words every 10 or so seconds. Same with Gauntlet.

          • Good post, but I think the only thing that matters is speaking English and speaking loud. Example: I consistently have 10 people in an Xbox party and constant side conversations. All we do is have 3 people in the dimension say their symbol in order from right to left. Then we have one guy in the throne room dedicated to saying what psion to punch.

          • This is true. None of the encounters in this Raid are hard. I think the issue is that people like to talk during Raids, you can't do that here. The only encounter you can get away with talk is the Bathhouse.

          • Take his shield down at the last second, and scoot back as far as possible them place a short shield when your shooting skulls. Also use merciless or Coldheart.

          • The best teams, I find, aren't the ones who are complete try hards. However, they are also not the super chill small talking cool dudes who can't get things done. The best is when everyone knows what to do so well that they can small talk while in the middle of an encounter.

            • LFG has taught me that vaping on your little hand-chimney while holding your mic as close as possible can really strengthen your teams communication, and earns you cool points at the same time. You should totally do it.

                • This is spot on. The amount of times people don't know when to shut the-f-up. People trying to lead or talking over others, drives me insane. Especially when they are the ones failing the mechanics. Had someone so adamant to lead at dogs saying "lets do it in one run we need 60 stacks" and then after failing to lead through the dogs 5 times i try to suggest we just do 24 stacks and do two rounds. I get completely ignored and talked over "nonono lets wipe the dogs are buggy" then it's "lets go to orbit and come back" I try to tell him don't. Just pass lead and the host will get refreshed if everyone leaves. Screen goes black and we're in orbit. 5 minutes later the party disbanded.

                      • I dont think being an adult really affect your social and communication skills. Some are just more open than others. I completed the raid no problem tnis week and I'm a teen. I've also encountered adults who will not talk. It's just personality

                          • For me 90% of the calus failures are cause by people being incompetent in the void. My cousin and I two man the throne room and can do so very efficiently. With 4 people in the void they still manage to miss psions, get thrown off, die from skulls (yup 4 of them were overwhelmed by skulls..). This is all from people who claim to be experienced. Either I'm really unlucky with groups or I need to step up the level of cancer in my posts.

                            • Nope. ive beaten the raid three times. Every group i had not beaten the raid with had little to do with communication. it was always due to people just generally sucking.
