Luke Smith.. Coincidence?
Maybe I'm wrong, but it seems like ever since he took over as Director of Destiny, the franchise has suffered. Weapon tuning(nerfing) 2.0 was the beginning. And its gotten worse with Destiny 2. Timers on the nightfall, low number of exotics, can't choose your game preference in crucible, etc. Just head scratching dumb decisions. I don't want to even play anymore. I mean, am I alone in feeling this way?

Him NOT acknowledging something is far worse if he's the director. Which since he is, puts it ALL under his purview. •Removed connection bars...check. •Add token-coins that are necessary for raids... Check. •Added the "auto delete " to shaders YOU earn. Check. •Stated community "doesnt know the value" of what they look at, and stated we'd "throw money" at what we don't know the value of (emotes). Check. •Nightfall timers- so what you bought is not allowed to be played at your own pace. (Which btw... The moment Bungie brags about HOW LONG players play on average is directly in correlation to increased or decreased timers artificially multiplying how many times and how long you play). •Removal of choice for PVP game types. •Removal of 6v6 PVP. •Removal of "random number generator" on earned user oriented content. •Removal of drop-quality and/or quantity via "farming lock" timers. •Removal of "subclass customization" because his coworker made customization choices that Luke Smith himself didn't like, so he removed the option to chose for EVERYONE. And on and on. •Infusion-self explanatory. He's the director. He directed all that.

I don't know any company that I have ever worked for that would Ever put a grunt in charge. Do any of you guys??? The guy was hired because he wrote an article. I guess experience doesn't matter nowadays like the greatest sandbox in gaming histroy.

Not surprising to see that the little gremlin-serpent-man hybrid is still actively contributing to the moral downfall of Bungie. It doesn't help that stooges like Deej, Parsons, and Ryan (formerly) are (were) there to cheer him along and stroke his ego either. The only good thing to come out of Smith's grubby, trump-like hands is the "BETA is awesome" meme. No wonder Marty, Jaime, Frank, and Joe got the [b]f[/b]uck out of dodge. My question is though, what the hell's happened to Jason Jones?

3 RepliesNothing at all to chase in D2. The exotics are absolutely mind numbing. All painfully average. I miss being a hip drawing, HC using bad ass. Using nothing but basic ass pulse/auto/scout rifles is sleep inducing.

5 RepliesTry to remember Luke Smith was a video game "journalist" who eventually got the Director of Destiny job because he designed a raid (and later TTK I believe) that everyone liked. That should provide a glimpse into how chaotic and broken the leadership is there: "Those are the only things getting any positive press, screw it, lets just let him design the next game. He seems to know what he's doing" Leviathan raid doesn't seem to be working out for people, but as Luke says, just keep throwing money at the screen :) I said years ago Luke Smith would be the death of Destiny. My opinion hasn't changed.

8 RepliesRegardless of who's in charge. It reflects on bungie as a company. Bungie. Please reskin the Fallen glimmer extraction so that the glimmer is money. The extraction point is 4 giant wallets. The turret should be reskinned to be an ATM machine representing our bank account. Have it shoot quarters at us. Upon destruction. Heroic event triggers where luke smith is dropped from a fallen ship, regular guns are his immunity. You need the exotic gun called "Money thrower" so that you can fill up his satisfaction bar. At which point nothing happens because your game is full of bugs anyways. Or because bungie is never satisfied with -blam!-ing us. Oh. And the only way you can get Money Thrower is by defeating Luke Smith within 1 minute and 15 seconds. Have both DLC's purchased. Need 50,000 silver, and cut your penis off and insert it into the disc tray. If you digitally downloaded it. You're out of luck.

1 ReplyI think TTK was the best expansion under his direction. Awesome Exotic Quests. More items with stats like ghosts, artifacts etc. loved the Kings Fall Raid.....i thought they would build Destiny 2 on the TTK foundation but man was i wrong...D2 feels so casual and dumped down it´s just disgusting.

He obviously has a knack for game design and in many ways The Taken King and Destiny 2 fixed a lot of the complaints that fan base had with Destiny 1. On the other hand, he strikes me as being hardcore gamer who doesn't understand how 'normal' people play games. He's always going on about his World of Warcraft days, how he was a Scarab Lord, how he played nothing but WOW non stop for years at the expense of his job at a Kotaku. I think he is also responsible for Destiny's more grindy aspects. I think he has a a very narrow vision for how the playerbase should play Destiny and anything that doesn't fit his vision suffers.

Then don't play, no one is making you. Look no one is perfect and always makes perfect decisions. There are things I wish were changed in Destiny 2, and I agree Crusible playlists should still exist and I think they will be coming back. But overall it is a much better base game than Destiny 1.
