The New Clan System Has Picked Apart My Clan

First, we lost people who didn't have the clan tag, but that was understandable. Now, though, people are slowly leaving my clan to join larger clans for the rewards. I can't even tell my own clanmates that they should stay because that would mean I'm actively telling them to get less out of the game. That just wouldn't be fair. I'm really disappointed in this new system. My friends shouldn't have to be in other, bigger clans just so they can get more out of the game and I shouldn't have to open my clan to a few dozen strangers just to keep up. I want my clan to be hand-picked people that I want to enjoy the game with, just like how clans were routinely spoken about by Bungie. How can I do that when there are now incentives to join bigger clans instead?

  • I saw this coming it wasn't planned well at all. I definitely think it could have been planned better to support smaller clans. Possibly a minimum of clans of 5 then go percentage base of completed activities. If 80% of your clan gets all clan things done you get 80% of max weekly clan xp. Just a thought.

  • I'm in a clan with one other member. Yes it does suck that you're not getting all the perks that larger ones get but at the end of the day I'd much rather share a casual game and a laugh with a good mate than a bunch of loot hungry peeps. Small clans trying to grow don't stand much of a chance sadly.

  • I have less than 20 people in my Clan. 10 of us are friends in real world. The few additions are all regular additions to our normal Raiding/PvP parties. We've all been playing consistently since D1. We like our small clan. We'll get our rewards together or not at all, just like we always have.

    • Bungie's answer to 'Community' building is to give rewards just for being a member of a large clan instead of actually giving clans the tools they need to communicate with and train players so they actually gain 'rewards' by playing the game in better ways. This way they can point to large clans and say 'Look at our community, it is so heathy we have X clans who's average size is 200 members'. It dose not matter to them that no one in those clans every speak to or play with one another and are only in the clan to get the membership awards. Making 'real' communities means facilitating in game communications and uping the number of players that can 'be together' in a single zone and better yet 'play together' in a single zone which Bungie is clearly not interested in doing.

      • Good news nobody! Clans have a maximum of 100 people as well as a maximum of clan xp a week! Also if they're leaving to join the bigger clans for "more" loot then that means your clan just isn't doing everything it can to get those clan powerful engrams. So get better?

        • Bigger clans are always better, no matter what game you are playin. Just get better friends.

        • The clan feature and guided game weren't improvements, most clans are toxic, and if they aren't they are small and only play with people they know. Adding those clan rewards didn't help. Now players are looking for bigger clans.

        • My clan has only 25 people and we are doing just fine, you don't need a large clan for the rewards, if two people of the clan do the nigthfall together you get a reward, if three people of the clan go together to the nine trials, you got a reward, if two people of the clan do the milestone of shaxs you got a reward, and so on, you don't need a lot of people for that.
