Nothing to desire or chase - BORED
How did you muck up the one of the best parts of D1? Two weeks in and I have seen most of the weapons and armor available, and non of matters. Sure I can add a mod but can anyone really tell the difference? I can't and unless the mod gives me 5 light I don't even bother equipping one. The nightfalls are REALLY, REALLY, REALLY BORING. A shooting action game that has you run past all the shooting and action is possibly the dumbest thing I have ever seen. The team that came up with that lazy idea should be ashamed and embarrassed. I'm so disappointed in the end game content and the loot overall. As a gamer I don't think I had spent so many hours playing a game before D1 but if D2 doesn't change drastically I don't see myself lasting much longer. My clan mates and I have only made it through half the raid and it was so boring that nobody is even trying to finish it.
You guys created a beautiful game with great gun play but once again you made game design decision that are baffling to say the least. Do you have people testing the game and giving any feedback at all before you release the game? A grind game without anything to grind for is going to fail. When every legendary and exotic can be obtained by casually playing for 2 weeks then what is left, especially when subsequent drops mean nothing? I'm sure you and your masters at Activision are pleased with the purchase numbers but in the long run, unless you have more frequent events, new raids added at a consistent and frequent rate, a change to knightfalls and a complete overall of the loot, this game will be stale within a month.
It is frustrating because you have made a game that has good gunplay, cool environments, an interesting premise but the execution is limp. Somebody is making terrible decisions and until that weak link is removed you will continue to miss your mark. I'm going to take a break (I can't believe I'm already at this point) and go back to the games that were only meant as distractions until this game came out, what a shame.
Edit: I forgot to mention the new weapon layout is really boring too. I play PVP but I always felt like it was more of an add on rather than the core of the game. This new layout makes sense for your new PVP but makes PVE so boring. Seriously, who is making these decision and did you even interview them before they got the job? We are supposed to be super powered space wizards but now my abilities take an eternity to recharge, supers might as well be nonexistent for how long it takes to charge and that sense of speed & mobility from D1 are gone. You took ice cream and turned it into vegan frozen yogurt, sure it's better for you but it is objectively worse.
Edit: I have been calling the nightfalls, knightfalls. That is my mistake but in my defense we are space wizard zombie knights, so Knightfall could still work (sarcasm).

6 RepliesToward the end of D1 I had nothing to spend my legendary marks on. This was even after they started updating the vendor rolls on a weekly basis. I already had the godliest of god rolls for many guns sitting in my vault. That was to be expected since I'd played the game for thousands of hours. Anyway, when I was around 200 marks, I'd walk over to the gunsmith and buy a bunch of spinmetal or something. Then I'd walk over to a faction and hand over the spinmetal, rank up, and then delete whatever gun I got. It was all sort of pointless. I probably should have just sat there at the 200 mark cap since it was all the same anyway. How the hell are we two weeks into D2 and I'm already turning crap into vendors and then deleting whatever they give me? Honestly, I think getting rid of gun rolls was such a screw-up that they're going to have to reintroduce it at some point. You can't have a loot-based game without any loot.

Yup. Stuck at 297-299 (gear related) and cannot get anything to drop above 291 due to a helmet that will not drop for me, not even from exotic engrams. So I'm basically playing for no reason as of right now.

I completely agree with this i feel bored , we can't progress anymore past 290 and are stuck , when i get engrams exotics and ledg and decrypt them they give me the same stuff i've had 6 times . i get nothing different that something i already dismantled or in my vault. the loot is a huge problem, the fact that they Penalize you with a cool down timer for opening boxes in the wild or taking out a hvt that hurts what you get is beyond me .they want people to do it extremely slow but the rng is also bad.not to mention what they did with the .this game should have been alot better.

There are beyond so many problems with this game that it wont more then likely wont even last a year. 1: Progression is broken always has been. This light level system is garbage and needs to go. It makes so much stuff useless in game and also makes many activities pointless to play because in most activities the loot you get is lower then what you already have so you basically play for nothing cause you'll never progress. Just go to a traditional XP progression. 2: In a game that is a looter shooter there is absolutely no loot to be had. I literally can go to my vault and pull out pretty much any legendary gun someone names. There isnt even a variety of guns ever since they made all weapons that have the same name will always have the same perks. Lol so the loot grind is completely gone in this game. 3: Forcing people to play certain activities to rank up is beyond annoying. I dont enjoy raids, im not going to play trials cause lets be real who likes PvP in a looter game. My favorite activities are strikes but their so pointless to play. You should be able to progress by playing anything you want in the game. Only difference should be that doing activities like strikes and all that should make you progress at a slower rate then it would be to do end game stuff like raids and what not. But you should never be forced to do certain activities to progress. 4: and speaking of progression lol really they limit you on how much you can level up in a week now are you serious lol. I have been stuck at 290 for the last week now and it is impossible for me to progress until reset so I can get more powerful engrams. So really its like why should I play the game just come back on Tuesdays get my engrams and hang the game up till next reset. Theres absolutely no point in playing if I cant do anything and theres nothing to grind for. I just love how so many people are saying this game is so much better then the first but yet you sit here and see all the same issues are still present in this that were in the first game. If anything this game took major steps back from the first game. This game to me is worse then the first.

I got all three characters 290 plus before the raid even dropped. Now they are all about 305. I have nearly every weapon and nothing left to grind for. I'm at the point where I am grinding for different loadouts solely for cosmetics. Bungie please bring back rolled weapons and/or allow us to use some of my 800 legendary shards to re-roll weapons. If you guys are dead set on fixed rolls, keep it that way, but you can have each vendor reset their rolls each week to provide incentive for leveling them in the future. As of now, I have nothing left to play for besides my ELO.

3 RepliesI agree. Somehow the magic of y1 destiny and the poor way rng was designed made it as addictive as hell. It made you repetitively play the same content over and over and over again. Yah it was bad, but was bad in a completely addictive and life absorbing kind of way. D2 doesn't really give you any reasons to replay the same content over and over and over. You kind of get to the end, get close to max light level, and then there's nothing more to do. I will say I probably got 20 or 30 hours out of d2 and thoroughly enjoyed the campaign and all the stuff there was to do immediately after finishing the campaign. That's not bad for a game. I've still got some hours left to play, so it's not bad at all. It's not the 500+ hours I played D1, but that's the only game I've ever played that much.

2 RepliesI'm already starting to move on to other games. It got to the point where I'd rather play Just Cause 3 then Destiny 2. Thought D2 was going to have a lot more staying power. I think the crucial issue is the loot. It's rubbish. There's only a handful of guns that I actually like to use. Call to Serve, MIDA and Sunshot come to mind. D2 now has the opposite problem to D1. People aren't chasing for god rolls. They've probably experienced the majority of the guns and because there's no variation there's nothing driving the game. It started so well - but the endgame simply hasn't been designed to last. Goddammit having to admit I miss the grind is really sad.

What Bungie should do is play Diablo. Especially Diablo 2, and then get to work emulating the gear in that game. I remember playing as a kid and the shear mount of gear available in Diablo 2 was amazing, and completing sets was satisfying and made a difference. I'm really tired of getting the same fee items over and over. There doesn't seem like there's anything amazing or unique to grind for. It's been less than a month and most have already seen everything.

I have been dying to get on and make progress on my guys, I just got my hunter above 290 last night but all my friends are pulling ahead because I have a full time job and a wife. I can't believe some of the complaints on here, you kids can't appreciate the great game you have already put so many hours into?

I agree with some things here. My TLDR version is....great game (I cannot stress this part enough), terrible content AMOUNT. There's nothing to it, you cannot win an argument against that and I'll invite anyone to try. Most MMOs (tough to compare different genres but this game IS an MMO) take months to even scratch the surface of endgame. Being able to get my 2nd and 3rd char to 290 in 7 hours (solo, mind you) is an absolute atrocity. Where is the meat and potatoes here? I have 2 raid clears and mixed it up in trials this weekend but geez....what's left besides chasing weekly reset powerful engrams to kick all my toons to 305 and finish up gear sets (for aesthetics only, mind you)? I already ran exotic quests multiple times, I need the exotic shottie quest...that's about the only thing I haven't "completed". OP is not wrong. It's all pop and sizzle, no substance.

1 ReplyIf all the D2 content was inserted into D1, with all of D1's mechanisms and random loot, it would be amazing! With the current static weapons, there's nothing to chase in a looter shooter, that's replayability gone right there.... I'm certainly not chasing armour sets, or shaders and emblems 😂

Some of us told everybody that this game will be an another money-grabbing fraud but noooo, nobody listened. Bungie took your money man, and that's it. This community should riot when they introduced two-primary system and sub-class layouts.

Hell, I loaded up D1 last night and did bounties with my Titan... it felt so nice to be able to move around, cast a powerful grenade into a mob, turn a corner and slam into another mob from 30ft in the air and have another grenade ready for more when I was done... And interestingly enough, the tower was full of guardians...

I called it before launch, bungie turned destiny into a generic shooter for pvp purposes and ruined the idea of destiny, all my fears have come true and D2 truly sucks.

Agreed. Got stale really really fast. Kind of funny when I think about how we're all bored before it's even released on PC. I wonder if that's going to cause some pre-order cancellations.

I'm so glad that everyone else is feeling what I'm Feeling. This game is so bad. The pvp is even bad and d2 pvp was a struggle but atleast watching people play trials on twitch was entertaining. Have you tried to watch a streamer pvp lately. Yawnnnn!!

I switched to some pvp in D1 and played some nightfalls and helped someone with the Black Spindle, can't do D1 raids because everyone trying to grind D2, for what!, no idea. And the app has become useless and can't really connecting players for D1. But I heard the story for D2 is not bad so tried it again. Then got bored, started the Titan and booyyy you ready ?? ....Same crap i stopped at level 2. The Sentinel is sooo dumb, the trailer made it look good though. I didn't play the beta so didn't know. So but yeah ...still like D1 but bungie's not making easy for D1 lovers, trying to force a breakup and ram crap down our throats. So if there's any guardian reading this out there, please add me as friend so we can rough up Oryx, Crota, Atheon and Aksis. I'm willing to grind for the surprised rolls and to meet new guardians in an old game that's worth the grind. - Fig, I'm not just a snack

I'm at 271 and honestly can't find any reason to play other than logging in once a week to get the new soft level cap from 265 to 266... lol terrible terrible game overall. Its so bad I downloaded the last of us and started playing that again. That's how badly I needed to be reminded what a good game looks like lmfao. I'm so glad I didn't buy the season pass. Most of the people on my friends list aren't even playing anymore. Edit: All I want is to be able to grind for better (God like) gear like we could in destiny 1, but this soft cap has me feeling like I've been c**k blocked by every vendor in the towers fat friend.

Sadly all of this is true. It won't matter though, the game is done with and all the content for the next year are done as well. There is nothing we can do to fix the game at this point. GG.
