Destiny 2 on University Networks

Yes, I can play On-Campus without issue

Sort-of, the game is playable, not perfect

No, I haven't been able to connect at all

I am a student at Rutgers University. Destiny 1 was always playable on the network but I always had issues landing at social spaces and doing activities that required more than 3 players. To get raids to work involved a lot of resetting the game and trying again. The only way to land at the tower/reef was to connect to my phone's wireless hotspot. Crucible matches connected about once for every thirteen tries (yes, I took note). With the release of Destiny 2, and my continued status as a student, I would like some input from the community on whether or not anyone has been able to play the game smoothly at their University campus. Please, do not direct me to the port forwarding help articles or anything similar. I have contacted the University in the past about this issue and they will not comply with my requests. Unless some major networking changes were made moving into the sequel, I expect the same issues will apply. I merely want to make an informed decision before buying. I do not want to spend $60 for another headache.

 • Ok look. You can't generalize every University campus network. They are all different, and they are all managed by different teams, which all have different security practices.... Moving on... If you have issues with Destiny 1, you will also have issues with Destiny 2. They are using the EXACT SAME "Uniquely complicated networking model" I manage a massive network in my line of work, and here's the deal. They will ignore a student request, I promise you that, however...... if a Faculty member (professor, teacher, high level administrator) were to mention it... I bet they would allow it. Academic Freedom is a hotbutton topic on university campuses. Personally I've opened ports for "research" into what i obviously know were gaming related requests. So hopefully someone owes you a favor.
