Look, this has to be a prequel and destiny 1 is really 2. It seems to be going backwards. While I am somewhat interested, I am curious if who is really going to play this? I remain skeptical.

Funny how many people take the word "prequel" literally in their responses. Guess only the smarter guardians understand what you really mean. I get you 😀

D1: Here is a boring dead sandbox that you will probably never explore unless you are bored shitless or are doing one of the 2 patrol activities that are actually fun and even then get boring after a while. You will read the amazing lore we have written (that is also not even in the game) and then be severely disappointed that you cannot find something amazing or be like the badasses we tell tales about. But hey, it's pretty. Of course all of the prettiest parts are locked off behind an invisible wall to the point where you feel like you are a hamster in a cage. Also whenever you try to explore the boring bland part of our world you will be met with either a locked door that has no interesting puzzle where you have to find a key, or a small room with absolutely nothing in it except for maybe a chest that will provide you with something useless. D2 (supposedly): here is a large world that doesn't restrict you nearly as much and you actually have a reason to go there and explore. We have added lore to the worlds and added an activity where you will see a symbol and explore to find a large cave system where you will fight a unique boss and get a chest. We also are giving you side quests that have their own self contained story and world npc's that give you those quests while simultaneously making the world feel dynamic and alive. Like it was supposed to in the first place. We also are giving the worlds their own separate quests that tell you the background of the area. Basically we finally put the amazing lore into the game. We are also giving the worlds two weekly events, worldwide nightfalls and treasure maps [that I assume will actually give you something that is usefull, but that may be too much of a stretch] which add to replay ability and expand on exploration, respectively. And if you thought D1 was beautiful, just wait till you see this shit. Yep. A step backwards. I could go into the other aspects that they have improved upon (again, supposedly) but this is the one that I think is most important.

D2 is a sequel, its not a reboot, not destiny 1.5.. It is Destiny 2. Just because our characters are getting a wipe, and we are going to start from scratch level wise and strength wise, that does not just erase Destiny 1 and what we did in that game. Yeah, destiny 1 was a mess.. But it was still a fun game, to me anyway.. and Id rather not just forget about it. Look forward to the future, but dont forget the past.

Post hoc ergo propter hoc

Nahhh, just more of the same just like other sequels, with a few changes. You're right in it seems to be be regressing. This game has continued to devolve since vanilla D1. Now we have D2 based on the same fundamentally flawed system (balance). I intend to play D2 regardless. I love the core game mechanics and fluid play, but it's so disappointing to see a dev not learn from it's mistakes. D2 will no doubt devolve just as it's predecessor did. This game could have been one of the greatest of all time.

Cabal as d1 no There was almost no left out d1 story line about Gary imho

Destiny 2 is obviously an attempt to make the game as it was intended so yes this is a supposed clean slate which equates to the real Destiny. I think they are moving back to eventually take a step forward but made some of the things inferior to Destiny Beta in the process from what I have read. We will see upon release.
-
No. Destiny 1 came first. Destiny 2 is the sequel. I don't understand how linear progression of time a development is so difficult for some.

Destiny 1's 3-year beta was a nightmarish dream sequence. We are hopefully going to get what Destiny 1 should have been. I remain skeptical as well and will be waiting for reviews before I purchase. I didn't really care for the beta. I felt weak, poorly armed and forced to fight from cover, sorry but that's not Destiny. Per those who believe Bungies old build BS, what we played is the game just like D1 beta. They may change some drop rates and timers but the weak feeling in your guardian and his armory will remain as it would effect PvP balance if it were altered.

Edited by Browski85: 8/17/2017 12:43:30 PMNo, I disagree. It is a progression from Destiny. There is nothing that supports the game as a prequel. Even using the terrible beta as a argument, they explained it wasn't a demo, it was purely a technical focus (would have been nice to know ahead of time, as well as it was several builds behind). I am not as hyped as I was for Destiny, but I feel it is because I know what Destiny is now, and not what they tried to preview ahead of time. With that said, I am still looking forward to playing this game. I'll be playing day 1.

D2 is what they wanted Destiny to be. D1's development was a cluster-blam!-, and they made the best of it they could, but D2 is Luke Smith's Destiny. We'd be better off ignoring D1's existance & thinking of D2 as a reboot.
-
Except Luke Smith stated Destiny is comic book 0. Meaning it was meant to introduce the characters of the universe but is not technically 100% cannon and the events may or may not of really happened. So with that Destiny 2 is technically the first issue of the comic book. So anything from this point forward is cannon for the story.

No. And Im going to play it.

Edited by KaosSoulja: 8/17/2017 11:07:43 AMNope In the trailer you see them building the social space....Amanda Holiday is young Fast forward she is older....definitely not a prequel
-
Duh.....destiny 1 was a beta.....

Edited by Uncanny_Vale: 8/16/2017 11:00:40 PM
Hmm. Is Destiny 2 is really 1
Yes but if Destiny to is Destiny 1 too is really won? 🤔
-
Yeah, D2 should of been D1. But since the daves that had a clue on how to make Destiny left. The fate of this game was left in a grunts hand. Since Luke smith couldn't handle D1 he decided to remove a lot of what made Destiny, Destiny and dumb it down to his mentality. So now this game will be nothing but rinse and repeat every year.

Well of course! Errrr.... I am confused.

Is this a "Brainadema"? Cause I'm pretty skeptical myself.
-
You can't be serious. Destiny 2 is 2, Destiny is 1.

"Hmm. Is Destiny 2 is really 1" Yes....
