I have some friends that play it and I hear mixed things. Some say the controls take getting used to. Why is that? I've seen people say no one wants to be a healer. In battlefield that's one of my favorite jobs. Is this some sort of objective based game where you hold capture points?
Sure I could google it but I rather chat with folks about it.
Edit 1: Thanks to everyone who responded. All great info. As for the controls being hard thing, I have no idea. It's just what I heard from some.

As a healer main I can say personally that healing is a pain sometimes. I main Zenyatta/Mercy and being blames for not healing when I have 5 people to heal can be rough. Especially if I die. That doesn't mean turn around and blame the team. Going on tilt is very common but just take a breather and play some dumb custom games or even a completely different game all together. If you're looking to get into it then don't jump straight into competitive the minute you hit level 25. Get some practice in as many different heroes as you can. Find your main then jump into comp I'll recommend a hero from each class to get you started to. Offensive: Soldier 76 Great if you come from FPS's like Destiny or COD Defensive: Junkrat or Mei Both easy to aim with and have great kits for new players Tank: Reinhardt or Orisa Both have large shields to protect your team. While Orisa has more abilities and cons than Reinhardt, both make great choices. Healer: Mercy She is the easiest healer to master and most played Good luck, and welcome to Overwatch!

Have you ever really needed someone to come through for you but they let you down? It's like that but multiplied by 5.

Healing in overwatch is drastically different than healing in battlefield. Typically you're focused specifically on healing and not much on dealing damage. Some healers have varying balances of damage output vs healing output though. The reason it's not a popular role is because you are very dependent on your dps players to be competent. ie. you can be the best healer in the game but if your dps can't hit the broad side of a barn it's all for nothing which can be extremely frustrating.

This Overwatch?

If you want a fps-moba, play overwatch. If you want a moba-fps, play paladins

It's a really good game to just relax and play casually. There's also competitive play too. Learning how to use all the heroes is extremely fun. It's probably one of my favourite FPS games that I've ever played simply because it's unique and something different to the likes of Battlefield or CoD

Good for 10 hours TOPS and then it's a repetitive crapfest. I do recommend the hentai tho, specially the Pharah ones 😚👌

Its a MOBA meets competitive FPS. Where players fit into very rigid roles, because Heroes have very rigidly defined loadouts and abilities. You have DPS Heroes like Reaper, Tracer and Genji whose job it is to flank and harass the enemy. You have Defensive Heroes like Bastion and D.Va whose role is more towards defending specifc locations. You have Tanks (like Winston ) who have powerful shields and massive health pools. Their job is to protect team mates from enemy fire...and soak up damage that they can't. Freeing up other players to fulfill there roles. Then you have Healers (like Mercy, Ana, Lucio and Zenyatta). These support players heal ( or resurrect) damaged team mates...and can apply either buffs to allies, debuffs to enemies...or both. ...and yes, there are a number of objective-based play modes. The game is puts a VERY heavy emphasis on team play and team composition.

If you like metas that never change buy it I love overwatch but god damn they never make balance patches

Just download TF2. You get a better game for the low, low price of
$0.00
It's not too terrible but after it gets annoying and then you see the memes then you really question what kind of game you're playing
-
Personally played for around 10-12 hours and just couldn't get into it. Deleted the game. lol

Overwatch is a great game. Healing is bad because you have very minimal DPS as a healer usually (I say usually because Zenyatta). But as for controls being hard I do not know what that is about. Just look at your hud and all the controls will be right there

Edited by RichardPictures3: 8/16/2017 4:24:04 PMNew player here. It's fun, for the most part. I've noticed there's a big smurf problem. If you can live with that then you're good to go. You can add me on Xbox live if you wanna play sometime. GT Hikari80 I'm super new tho. Only lvl 11 and I'm having s hard time finding people to play with. Solo queue sucks

Edited by The Researcher: 8/15/2017 10:46:01 PMIt's an easy game to pick up but hard to master, the tutorial teaches you the basics, but not everything. Basically you're a team of 6 playing to secure an objective by either attacking and capturing/defending points/payloads, or fighting over control points like king of the hill. You've got a bunch of heroes all with their uses, all categorised in classes of dps (offense and defense characters), tanks and supports. Ideally you want 2 of each on a team. Tanks stand on the front lines soaking/preventing damage while other people do their thing (be it killing, healing, or helping get a kill in some way). On both sides you basically always stand behind tanks and do your thing. Until you get familiar with the game I recommend playing mostly soldier 76. Also just a tip: high ground = good, otherwise it's over, anakin.

It's a mediocre Paladins.
-
Massive fun with friends, just don't let the competitive toxins get to you.
-
Controls are easy as shit, game is very fluid and smooth. The only problem with it is being stuck with terrible teammates who have no idea how to play an objective based game.
-
If you're not into competitive gaming and all that comes with it, the game will become dull quickly. Overwatch does competitive gaming well, but offers almost nothing else.
-
If you've played team fortress 2 you'll have a pretty good idea. It's a fun game though.
-
It's fun honestly. I didn't play it at first put now I put almost 200+ hrs. And trying to climb in competitive is so fun. Just reached master and I'll try to go to grand masters next season.

The controls take getting used to mostly because the setting for stick controls that most games use, where camera movement is proportional to how far you move the stick, starts off way too fast on the inside. Instead, most people use the "dual zone" or "exponential" settings, which move more slowly on the inside than usual.
