The Path We Choose Ch7: Escape.

Geren wrenched a crossbeam from underneath the cot. It was about a foot long, with a jagged tip on one side. He walked over to the wall and carefully pried open an access hatch on the wall. With great skill he used the sharp tip of the pole to twist a wire out of place. The wire popped out, the end sparking. He carefully maneuvered the wire until the tip was touching the power module. Sparks began flying and a loud hum resounded through the room. Geren sprinted back to the cot and dove underneath it. A loud explosion rocked the ship. Debris flew through the room, smashing into walls. A sharp piece of metal barely missed Geren's head, impaling itself into the wall. After a moment Geren rolled out from under the bed. Small fires burned around him. He quickly ran to the door and looked around the corner. No one was in sight. The long hallway extended as far as he could see. He frowned. He didn't remember Lila owning anything this big. He ran down the hallway, looking for anything to help him. He turned down a side hall and stopped abruptly. In front of him was a window looking out into space. He approached it, curiously. He reached the window and put his hand on it. "Uh oh." He said. Myra, Sully, and Moron ran as fast as they could, pushing their sparrows ahead of them. They reached the hanger and ran to the Maverick. Myra lowered the cargo door. Soren was sulking in a seat near the door. He stood. "What took you so long?" he asked. "We'll talk later, now get to the cockpit. We need to go." Myra said. "If you got me some stupid pink sparro..." He began. "If you don't get your butt to the cockpit right now, I will send you right out the airlock. Am I clear?" Myra asked. "Fine." Soren said, and he stalked off. Myra turned to Sully. "Get the Sparrows into the digitizer, then meet me in the cockpit." she said. Myra ran to the cockpit and jumped into the seat next to Soren's. "Where to?" He asked. Myra thought. The last place they knew Lila had been was the Tower. "That goody two shoes. Always dealing with those devils, kissing up to the guardians. Maybe she left a hint there." "The Tower." She said. Soren choked. Of course he was an exo, so any problems with his throat were simply a part of his programming, but it was very realistic. "The Tower?!" He asked incredulously. "Its our only hope." She said. Soren reluctantly set a course for Earth. Myra leaned back in her chair and sighed as the ship launched into warp.
