SE VI/3/9/1 sighted Mark III Cruiser crashing at grid 402×001 II: Analysis This is an archetypical engagement. It represents many hundreds of failed operations. A complete report of all engagements is linked. Vex activity on the planetary surface has exploded drastically. The Blind Legion can no longer keep the advance at bay. Tactical attrition exceeds both frictional projections and our ability to regenerate losses. New tactics are necessary. The primary threat is the ability of the enemy to completely ignore any defensive structure. Vex units are warped in using unknown technology, bypassing defensive perimeters, thus rendering them useless. Blind Legion research stations report that it is possible to disrupt the teleportation sequence, but also mentions that this would need a large power supply, and that the technology overheats very quickly. Blind Legion claims is working to increase combat efficiency. Psion analysis indicates that specific areas are inimicable to Vex teleportation. Argian Command has initiated an orbital survey. BL X will be sent to reinforce the Skyburners at the beachhead on the Dreadnaught near Saturn. Flayer analysis suggests that the Hive have developed unconventional counter-Vex capability. The capture of Hive leadership might yield vital strategic intelligence, including weapons or tactics capable of defeating Vex permanently. Guardian units on Terra seem to have developed another way to stop Vex technology. A direct invasion of Terra will be necessary. RL IV claims that it is only a few months traveling away, followed by RL I and III. We advance that the human agglomeration on Terra presents a strong target. For the Primus, Our highest duty done, Unflinchingly loyal, Blind Legion IV/A/SI] The message ended. After a long silence, it was Echo who spoke. "Caesar, download this message. The Vanguard needs to know what the Cabal are planning. I'll try to find what the 'RL' is" As Caesar started downloading, Echo turned towards his monitor to search through long lists of boring information, but then saw that the Prohibition was starting to warp in again. He just finished reading, when the caracteristic sound of teleporting Vex could be heard. Echo threw a grenade, and the first two Goblins dissapeared in a cloud of Void Light. But more and more Vex started to appear, and it became quite hard for Echo to hold them back. When a few Axis Minotaurs appeared, he jumped in the air, started gathering all his Light in his hands, and then released it, into the Vex crowd. The whole room seemed to explode, but the blinding purple Light soon faded away. The room was completely destroyed by the power of Echo's Nova Bomb. Yet, the Vex kept coming. Whilst reloading his Heavy Machine gun to take out a Hobgoblin, he looked at one of the few monitors that were still working. He saw a little red dot slowly moving through the base. "That's probably the Primus", he muttered to himself. "Caesar, how much longer?" "91 percent, about five minutes!" A new wave of Vex started to warp in. Echo realized if they stayed here for much longer, they'd become a little pile of ash. He already felt his Light suffering from the omnipresent Darkness. "That'll do!", Echo shouted, as he gestured Caesar to stop downlaoding." We're out of here!" Caesar dematerialized, and as Echo backed out of the room, he looked behind him one more time. A large Colossus, probably a Val, armor coloured with the white of the Blind Legion, was unleashing hell upon the Vex units. Then, Echo turned a corner, and he left the hellish control room. He arrived in a more intact part of the base, and the base intercom was constantly active. Large red lights were flashing on and off, indicating that something was wrong. Echo didn't stop to look at what happened around him. He just sprinted througn the hallways, where Caba, and Vex were fighnting vicuously. The base had been overrun. He jumped over a few boxes, and immediatly turned right. [Hold the line at any costs. Repeat: Hold the line at any costs. Repeat: Hold the li...] Echo caught a glimpse of what was going on in the room he was running through, and saw a Centurion desperately firing at a Minotaur who was charging him, with little to no effect. [Attention, all troops! Fourth line has fallen. Form emergency perimeter around the Primus!] A Legionary tried to stop him, but Echo simply threw him aside with his Light. He then ran through a large door, which looked like it was forced open. He crossed the room and was about to enter the next one, when he saw what was going on inside. A Centurion, surrounded by Vex, standing on top of the remains of his Squad, was trying to stay alive. It only took a couple of seconds before his corpse fell on the ground. Echo decided to turn left instead of going into that room. [Hold the line at any costs. Repeat: Hold the li...krgtzz...tkrgz...rggkr...] Echo sighed in relief. "Finally, that intercom's dead. It was getting EXTREMELY irritating!" They left the battle behind them, as they arrived in the outskirts of the base, where the fight was already over. After another hour, Echo stepped trough a breach in the wall, and stood outside. He walked towards a small dune, and fell on his back, tired after running for a couple of hours. "We need to get away from this warzone, if I want to safely land my ship. Caesar, summon my Sparrow" "No", Caesar simply said. Echo immediately turned towards the Ghost. "What do you mean, 'no'?" "Well, your ship hasn't arrived yet, because it had to travel all the way from Venus, while you stepped through a transfer gate. Have a fun walking! Echo got up and slowly started walking, away from Firebase Chora. "I'll kill you one day, I swear!" Caesar started laughing. "Killing me? I'm your Ghost, if you kill me, nobody will resurrect you after a stupid experiment" Echo cursed the robot and continued walking in silence.
