Shouldn't we have light based abilities progression?

I have no clue why Bungie has not thought about this. We are guardians of light, why not have light abilities through the light stat? Abilities not solar based or arc or solar, just light. It would give the stat more meaning. For example hunters at 100 light could: throw a knife and teleport to the knife. For warlocks at 150 light could: make a bullet follow the enemy For Titans at 200 light: have light armor that surrounds them and gives them more defense for 10 seconds And of course once your unlock these abilities you can mix and match what you want. This solves customization, makes light desirable, provides a back story for guardians becoming stronger with more light, and diversifies combat. Why has none thought of this? Ideas:

  • Not sure I understand what exactly you are proposing here. Do you want to get rid of solar, void and arc elementals and have em all as "light", whatever that is...? And how would it be so different compared to how it works in its current state, we now level up the subclasses to unlock all nodes, from whom we then can choose freely. Unlocking them with light vs XP doesn't really matter, does it?
