Clan Rules

Hello, everyone. This post is meant to detail a few clan rules. Before requesting to join or to add a friend of yours, please consider these rules and whether or not you, or the person you are thinking of sponsoring, will abide by them. These rules are foremost for game sessions done as a clan, but we expect you to follow them whenever you are playing with other players as well since you are representing the clan at all times simply by virtue of having "Aces and Jacks on Xbox" appear below your Xbox Live gamertag. These are rules not only for playing Destiny, but for playing any game on any console on which you bear our clan name. Article 1.) We play professionally. This does not mean that we expect no profanity from players, as we all get upset with games from time to time or simply use such language out of habit, and we are all adults that can handle such things. What it does mean is not getting upset with teammates for errors, not quitting mid-session whenever possible, and not discussing inappropriate or distracting topics during a game session. If you have ever watched a live stream of professional players, you know that the majority of discussion is on the game, calling out targets, and discussing strategy. This is our aim. Similarly, if a problem with fellow clan members arises, the issue should be raised privately to one of the administrators, all of whom are listed as such on the members list of our clan here on Bungie.net. The issue should not be posted in group messages or publicly on any forum. Addendum 1a.) While trying to help clan members understand their mistakes is okay, criticizing them in a negative and unfriendly way is absolutely out of the question, as is making any suggestion or insinuation that they should be kicked/booted from an activity. If a particular person seems to be the reason why you are not getting through an activity and the issue seems to be their light level or weapons, you might kindly ask them if you can try to get them through it later, but this should never be done if an activity is a Sherpa activity (guided activity by more experienced players for inexperienced players) and should never be forced on a player (he or she should agree to leave with no hard feelings). If you are conducting a Sherpa, you should be prepared to wipe many, many times and still be able to keep calm and encouraging. Article 2.) There is to be no cheesing of any game activities at any time by clan members. This is especially true while broadcasting or recording a video and when playing with people who are not in the clan. If it becomes evident that players in your group intend to cheese, members are to refuse to continue playing unless the other players decide against cheating the game. An admin should then be notified of the offending member(s) via private message as mentioned in (1) above. Using cheesing to get materials, loot, or for any type of gain whatsoever, in any game, is prohibited. The only time cheesing is permissible is if all members in a group are clan members, all have agreed to cheese beforehand, and no member will gain anything from doing so. This means that, for example, if you want to go ahead and mess around with Crota in Destiny and push him off the back through glitching for fun, it is fine as long as everyone has already agreed to do so beforehand and the character you are using has already completed the checkpoint for the week, causing no loot to drop. However, this is prohibited if even one member in your group is a non-clan member as we do not want people from outside the clan assuming that we cheese activities to get loot. Assuring them that we never cheese when it counts does not make cheesing in the presence of non-clan members acceptable. Article 3.) Do not use the clan as a means to try to complete Destiny activities because you did not want to use one of the Destiny LFG groups. Similarly, do not try to use the clan to find good players that will carry you through things you have no business attempting. We seek skilled players only, so if you find yourself with a terrible K/D spread in the Crucible in every match, or always having to cheese raids and such to get past them, this clan is not for you. Similarly, it is prohibited for clan members to drag lower level players through activities in order to help them raise their level or get loot. If a player is not at a level where they can cause significant damage (i.e. within 5 light levels of the suggested level of an activity), then dragging them through the activity is not allowed. For reference, the Wrath of the Machine raid on normal mode is suggested light level 370 and enemies at Aksis are suggested at 380. This means that players who are less than level 365 are not to be taken through this raid by our clan members. The only exception is if players can hold their own. As soon as a player starts dying constantly from enemies, it is time to ask them to willingly leave the activity and try again after they level up. Addendum 3a.) We expect all members to occasionally do activities that they have already completed to help out their fellow clan members. We understand that some players have time constraints and cannot always commit time to doing activities that they do not need; however, players that consistently refuse to help fellow clan members with activities will be removed from the clan. Addendum 3b.) Before doing weekly or daily activities with friends, we expect members to do these activities together. Lack of playtime together means that no team building gets done, so there will be no coordination between players. Ideally we want to be one of the clans attempting to be the first to complete all future raids or to achieve a new record for a raid speed run. Play together. Improve together. Article 4.) This clan has a zero tolerance policy for discrimination and racism. Comments made when you are playing with a group consisting of only your own friends are your own responsibility, but any racist, sexist, or discriminatory remark made when playing with the clan or with players that you do not know is grounds for removal from this clan if it comes to the attention of the administrators. Remember, you are representing us wherever you play as long as you carry the clan name below your Xbox Live gamertag. This is the one rule that we are most likely to not let go with a warning and can lead to immediate dismissal. Please be careful with your comments and conversations when playing online. We are open to all members, regardless of race, gender, sexual orientation, etc. LGBT members are welcome. Atheists are welcome. Christians are welcome. Muslims are welcome. Jokes about Muslims, LGBT individuals, women in the kitchen, etc. are not. Get the point? If not, you will be removed and banned. Addendum 4a.) We are aware that certain people from various areas may be accustomed to using certain slang in their daily speech; however, if it is something that can be taken as offensive by someone (such as the slang term “-blam!-”), it will be considered in violation of this rule if you are using it when criticizing someone, even if they are outside of the clan. No one should be criticizing clan members to begin with, per rule 1 above. Article 5.) We prefer to have players who are at least age 18 or older in this clan. Our live streams are marked as intended for mature audiences and this means that our members should be as well. Profanity and mature conversations do happen in the course of the game or during idle time and so we prefer to only take members that can handle such things. That being said, if a slightly younger player can handle the mature nature of our language and conversations, exceptions can be made. We generally do not recruit anyone younger than 16 to either Aces and Kings or any of the Aces and Jacks clans, and a player must be very mature and skilled to get promoted from Jacks to Kings while still under the age of 18.

  • Article 6.) We use a smart phone/tablet/computer app called BAND for LFG (Looking for Group) messages for all Destiny activities, as well as for asking questions and casual chatting. There are separate groups on BAND for all games that we are actively involved in. All clan members must be willing to download this app and join the appropriate groups for each game. Not being on the app means that you don’t see others asking for help and will never be able to come to their aid. Never helping is unacceptable in this clan. That being said, the rules for the app are simple. First, sign up and make your user name, as well as the profile/display name that everyone sees, the SAME AS YOUR XBOX LIVE GAMERTAG. For example, if you are SilentNightfaii on Xbox Live, you should make this your user name and display name on BAND as well. Second, you can post any LFG message that you wish for any Destiny activity. If you wish to help someone with their activity, simply comment on their post. Lastly, while the admins occasionally post informational messages and/or questions for the clan, regular members are prohibited from asking questions, having casual conversation, etc. using posts. There is a chatroom for each BAND group where questions can be asked and members can have casual conversations that are off-topic. Please note, failure to follow the app usage rules can result in removal from the clan if the problem persists. Addendum 6a.) Clan members are free to post requirements (such as a certain light level) when making an LFG post. You are still free to message the person and ask if you can still join them if you do not meet the requirements, but it is their right to refuse. Sometimes players do not have a lot of time to try to complete an activity and may request players that are a higher level to help ensure that the activity gets done quickly and with as few wipes as possible. This is okay as long as it is not the norm and the person has helped players of lower level out with activities. Consistently asking to play with the highest players is unacceptable. Addendum 6b.) No clan member should make an LFG request more than once per 30 minutes. Similarly, clan members should not post a request for the same activity in succession, but are free to comment on their original post for the activity to say that they still need help. Also, If you fulfill your request and still receive offers to help, be kind enough to write those players back in a private message or comment on your post and tell them that the activity is full. Article 7.) All members of Aces and Jacks are expected to have a mic and make use of it. Playing without one in certain occasions (late at night so as to not wake other's up) is permitted, but owning a mic is a requirement for this clan (including Aces and Kings). Article 8.) Timeliness is very important in this clan. If you say you will participate in something, it is important that you be there. If you are no longer able to participate, give a lot of advanced notice of at least one hour. In the case of emergencies, of course no one should be upset if you provide no notice, but that is the exception. Saying you will participate in something and then asking for an additional 20, 30, or more minutes is unacceptable. Running 5 minutes late is fine, but try not to make it the norm. Addendum 8a.) If a fire team member goes AFK with or without notice, give 10 minutes for them to return before booting them from the activity. No one should rage over being booted of you were AFK for more than 10 minutes and were booted. Of course teammates are free to agree to wait for more than 10 minutes if someone asks ahead of time or the team (not just the fire team leader) is feeling generous. More to follow... - Nightfall
