Ok, let's stop the salt around Grimoire.

Let's be real here. Having to go to an outside website to find VERY important lore was a stupid choice. Having the actual story of the game chopped up into bits and pulled out of the game was a horribly shitty choice on Bungie's part and I hope they never do it again. But the Grimoire, while it was a bad choice to create, I'm glad that the info still exists. I love to read, and anything that deepens my understanding of an interesting sci-fi universe that i'm invested in will only pull me further into the game in terms of immersion. I'm all for the info being integrated into the game, but it worries me that we won't see written stories. Written stories take far less time, and by extension money, than cutscenes, scannables, or even just voice-acted logs. It's way easier to write a short story than to make a cutscene. I can't say that this is what will happen. But Luke Smith has suggested that Grimoire will be cut and, in my interpretation at least, this implies that there will be no written lore. There isn't any evidence of this that I have but that's the vibe I get from this whole debacle. If you don't like Grimoire, great. Just know that there are people that do. Byf, Myelin. The Ashen Conflux was created expressly to delve into the lore of the Destiny universe. There are people who like lore. That's the way it is. It's irrelevant if you think someone's stuck up- your opinion doesn't mean they shouldn't get to enjoy what they enjoy. If you read this far into the post, thanks. I really hope this can soothe some animosity. If you want, send me a pm and I'll talk to you, I'd love to hear any opinions you may have on this. Have a good day.

  • I don't get why people are like "bungie don't care about x part of community" because they do, chances are they will have cards for destiny one stuff and they have added lore stuff to each item, the lore tubers will find stuff to make videos on, the mysteries and thoughts about who a person could be or new lore or why a lost sector boss ended up where it is. still i wish the lore youtubers would stop complaining about how theres no advanced lore when there will be.<<<<<<<<<<<

If you're going to have critical and important bits of lore about the game, then put them in the game. Not on little cards that you can't even read in the game itself. That is just bad storytelling. As long as Destiny 2 does a good, thorough job depicting the lore in-game, then I say good riddance to the external Grimoire element.

      • I think that the grimoire was a great idea. Not a great substitution for in-game story, but a great addition. If Destiny 2's lore is dumbed down so that they can put it into the game, it will become significantly harder to become immersed in the Destiny universe. When they remove what makes Destiny unique (which is the lore), I'll have no reason to continue playing. That said, maybe they won't dumb it down, in which case it will be awesome. I just fail to see why they removed it. There was absolutely nothing to gain, and a lot to lose.

      • I think everyone just needs to settle down a bit. Just because the grimoire is gone doesn't mean there won't be something like the cards. For instance, that lore tab. I'm almost certain that will act like the mass effect index. You open it up, and there is your new and improved grimoire. (Unless there's news about that lore tab that I missed that specifically states it will not)
