If fusions & shotguns are heavy, how will they fit with the other heavies?

Snipers can 1 shot @ any distance Rockets can 1 shot @ any distance Lmg/smg/hmg or whatever gatlin chain guns, can kill very fast from far or close range Grenade launcher can 1 shot @ almost any distance - edit - corrected, can't 1 shot So where does that leave fusion rifles & shotguns ? Thanks

    • Ammo count is going to play a big role in this. If you chose the rocket launcher, you are getting 1 rocket. As you know rockets are almost a guaranteed kill unless you fire it into a wall or completely whiff. You choose a fusion or shotgun and you are going to get a lot more ammunition and the potential to deal a lot more destruction. But as you said, getting up close is riskier.

      • Nerf Fusion Rifles. Thats why they fit in the heavy/power weapons. Under Bungie Halo Tradition Shotgun is a power weapon. (If they've applived a PvE Buff for D2 it better not get nerfed to nothing because of Cruicible) Someone said it reads like the weapon redefinitions were to balance PvP despite statements about supporting PvE. Feel that the Fusion Rifles should be an energy weapon.

        • D2 seems more limited in choices, at least let people choose to run double primary in PvE and PvP don't force it on us, those that love to snipe, fusion or shotgun it's over

          • Shotguns and FRs just got their walking papers for D2. I've put this question up before; why use them (shotguns/FRs) when you are giving up a RL/HMG or even sniper? And is heavy ammo going do drop often enough or rare to make heavy weapons for big/tough/juicy targets only?

            • Unless it's fusion rifles like the sleeper I have no problem, but if it's normal fusions then they are absolutely underpowered. Also, the shotguns need to look aggressive, a drum mag and full auto will make them look appealing for close range

            • Shotguns, fusion rifles and snipers will be pointless in PvP and pve when rocket launchers, lmgs and grenade launchers are a thing.

              • I am gonna wait and see for myself, but this has honestly be a worry of mine for PVE as well as most people have snipers, shotties, and fusions for PVE activities as well and unless they are much more powerful for PVE they will literately just become the "for funsies" weapons.

              • I'm glad there is finally a post about this troubling new development. I was watching some of the videos where they referred to the idea of having two primaries as a real selling point. All I could think of was..... Sure having a little more versatility is nice, but what am I gonna do if I have a mid level baddy in my face, that I would otherwise use my harder hitting secondary weapon to take care of. So you get a minatour or a fallen captain in your face, you start unloading on them with your primary and find it's taking too many hits, it's not getting the job done... What are you gonna do? Bust out your second primary that doesn't hit any harder? I for one am very concerned about the flow of weaponry that they've gone with D2. I dare say disappointed... Moving anything remotely hard hitting to the heavy slot solely for PvP? You guys have got to be kidding me. You guys have basically ignored all of the glaring issue from D1. Like pier to pier multiplayer, which is pathetic for 2017. Lowering the player count in PvP to try and deal with the lag and imbalances. Which quite frankly, may not be possible with all of the player abilities and perks and supers, coupled and all of the abilities on the weapons and unique abilities of exotics. By the way 4v4 also pathetic for 2017. And on top of it you seriously meddle with things that ain't broke. Atleast from a single player stand point.. So now you've essentially crippled single player, all in the name of trying to fix your brutally lack luster multiplayer. Good job guys! Now when I get a mid level captain in my face I have nothing to use in that situation, and I'm not gonna take a shotgun in my heavy slot, because I can't use it on a boss, and even if I did take one for the mid level guys. I'm gonna get 5 shots for my shotgun once in blue moon...

Do you think the devs that quite Bungie might have anything to do with why this game is heading the way it is? http://kotaku.com/a-ton-of-destiny-devs-have-left-bungie-recently-to-make-1784402854/amp I'm wondering who's going to waste heavy ammo on a shotgun in PvE? Hell! PvP for that matter. This is why PvP and PvE needs to be separated. The logic Bungie uses in this game is flawed and it's Loud and clear once again, this game will be based off of PvP. Dude! Bring back the devs that made Halo...

                • I'm very curious about this too because IMO, it's just not going to work. Shotguns are going to have to basically be hand-held flack cannons (See Warframes "Drakgoon") or have some serious range in order to compete with the others. However, shotguns with range are OP in PVP... Fusion rifles, I'm wondering if they aren't going to be more like the rail gun in Halo. Charge time, but heavy damage. FR's USED to have really good range and damage output in Vanilla, if people remember those good ol' days. Quite frankly, I really hope the new weapons system fails miserably and they just force people to use two primaries in PVP and let people use the old system in PVE. They can't honestly propose to adequately replace heavy/special weapon damage in PVE with a primary weapon. I don't think ANYONE is excited about shooting at a strike boss for 20 minutes with a primary weapon OR WORSE, getting overrun with minions because you chose DPS over crowd-control...

My beef so far is how it will work in raids, doesn't seem to make sense at the moment. Which is something that won't even become clear in the beta either.

This is a valid concern. I have reservations about this design as well. I understand that these concerns come from PvE and PvP players alike. I personally don't know how encounters with bosses will work for me now. I'm eager to find out, but really hope this doesn't slow PvE down too much.

                      • Pointless. That's about the only term I'm able to come up with. They will be pointless in PvE, as whatever maximizes boss DPS will get the nod over anything else, and pointless in PvP, as everyone knows just who the crap has the power ammo and can easily play around them. They honestly would have been better off removing them outright because they are just pointless design space as they currently are. Obviously we will see just how it plays out when the beta comes out, but until then this is the stand in taking. Oh and sidearms as a primary? Just why? Even the name of them do not warrant primary....

                        • Since day 1 the weapon system layout has been broken. I don't know who thought it would be a good idea to make Hand Cannons a Primary, and Fusion Rifles a Secondary. But they should be fired. There's a good reason why 99.9% of games follow the real life example of Rifle= Primary, Pistol= Secondary, and Rocket= Heavy. Because it WORKS! All Bungie has done and keeps doing is throw a wrench in the works for the sake of being different.

                          • Ammo. 1 rocket vs 6 shotgun rounds? I'll take the shotgun. If you don't have confidence in your abilities, then use your rocket and get 1 kill.

                            • Why would I use a shotgun/fusion over a rocket launcher? Even if those 2 have been beefed up, they're still not gonna cut it against sniper/RL. I think this decision was a mistake and perhaps they should've been put in the Energy class.
