D2 PVP WHY Bungie?

See no reason for ridiculous changes to PVP highlighted in D2 gameplay. Only 1 person gets power ammo? SirD stated that only the person who pops the power ammo gets it. No team or area drops. So 1 player on the map is god and all others are screwed. Don't see the reason or how that promotes skill. What that becomes is better players or players with better weapons get power ammo and become unstoppable and casual players get creamed and stop playing. How does that promote skill or enjoyment? Really, someone tell me one way that promotes either gun skill or enjoyment? No dedicated servers, so same laggy games and cheaters in PVP. No advanced frame rate. Complete and total restriction on ammo so you can't use the guns you want, so play Bungie's way or no way at all, Oh except 1 player that creams the entire team. Longer TTKs and longer, roaming supers, but grenades and melees now suck. What the counter for supers? (We know it's not power ammo) Feels like I want my $99 preorder money back already. Total Bullshit Bungie. I predict the largest player dropoff in Bungie history within 3 months of this game dropping if left as is. Once once PVE is played through, this game will cease to be enjoyable for PVP very quickly. But MLG and YouTubers that get paid to play all day will have plenty of team wipe clips to post. That's important too I suppose. At least now we can sometimes play with fusions, shotguns and snipers in a PVP match. At least we can shut down supers now with real gun skill, and God forbid grenades (sorry for using a bad word-grenades) without having a super. If you thought PVP was broken in D1, just wait till D2.

  • They want the game to play more like halo, with REALLY slow kill times, and reward methodical combat. They don't want the game to be the fast-paced shooter it was in Y1. They came to grips with the reality that in order to balance the power of special weapons vs. primary weapons, they had to limit special weapon ammo or increase kill times overall. So Bungie went to its comfort zone. It removed special/heavy weapons essentially and will now force everyone to fight using primary weapons in PVP. Essentially made the game play more like Halo - especially with the switch to 4v4 modes across the board. In PVE, they think they can adequately replace DPS of a special/heavy weapon with a primary, but I seriously doubt it. Overall, highly skeptical of the new weapon reordering system. Not thrilled about it in the slightest.

    • To be fair, D2 desperately needed a focus on PvE where most players are anyway. I agree that Bungie will kill off their own PvP with 4v4 across all modes. This is just another lame excuse from Bungie to justify not investing in dedicated servers.

    • At first glance I didn't mind the changes. But it's the details like those that make you think twice. It's bad enough now that most people will grab the heavy before teammates get within range. Now there isn't even a reason to wait. I don't feel like that promotes teamwork. Unless you're playing with a clan or friends and communicate it'll just be every man for themselves when it comes to power ammo.

For some reason, they want this to be Halo. Why? Who knows. Maybe they feel more secure in that world. That's not what I want in Destiny. If these guys are hell bent on going that route, then PvE really REALLY needs to be good for me to stick around. My message to Bungie would be, "Okay, guys, you obviously want us to use primary weapons above all else. Fine. I'll be okay with that if you design the maps and game play to COMPLEMENT their use not work against them. Freaking go easy on obstacles on the map and give us more open spaces. And for God's sake, stop making big maps (Floating Gardens) filled with big obstacles and with a few small choke points separating areas".

      • Just two points that is worth pointing out (and an extra one, really): 1) Sir Dimetrious didn't say that only one player takes heavy/special ammos, he said that in THAT gametype specifically only one player takes ammos. It's still one player in that gametype, but we don't know whether this will change in the future or whether this gametype specifically works in this way only. 2) It's yet unclear whether destiny 2 will have dedicated servers or not, so let's wait until there is an official source stating that. Extra point: the destiny 2 pvp is far more similar to the older halo PVPs: only one player gets a specific weapon (usually the sniper or rocket launcher), the rest is primary fight. In this case, it's a sort of an advanced fight, since you have both abilities (which seems to be far more balanced now), no one-shot kill abilities (no grenade stick 1 shot) and two primaries to combine together, which leads to a wide amount of possible combinations to enjoy. In a nutshell: it's a bit early to say whether the pvp is bad or not, let's actually give them a chance. Play the beta if you have preordered it, then if you have anything very practical to say just PROVE it with practical evidence. Right now the destiny 2 pvp is just what people always asked from destiny 1: more primary fights, bringing however to NO special fights or having special weapons as a very relevant weapon in the whole gaming experience, which is not necessarely bad.
