I played a TON of year one destiny, I had all max level characters and had done nearly everything possible before year 2 dropped and the. Quit because of responsibility stuff, but during that time when I first started I had a few friends from school who helped me from the very early stages where I was just standing around and dying on VOG and or Crota, but then they weren't on I was still able to find games with a decent amount of people that were willing to help me without having to be max level... I have now switched to PS4 and I'm trying to grind back to doing raids... but I don't have 5 other friends that play anymore... and there is little to no help. There are a few here and there but I'm mostly on my own to find friends my light level and try and get enough that we could do a raid. Even if they have no idea how to do it yet. So when did destiny have a change in environment. Why are people so worried about getting a raid done the 1st time that they can't even teach player that are Over high enough light and are good players... but don't know how to play the raid because they are too new and don't have friends that can teach them as well. Can we get back to the days where even though hard Crota was ruled by gjallarhorn we were willing to help the noobies learn the raid on easy at the bare minimum? Cause that encompasses the reason I love destiny with all my heart.
I played a TON of year one destiny, I had all max level characters and had done nearly everything possible before year 2 dropped
2500 Grimoire. No Y1 MoT. Not even close to finishing it. Yeah you played a ton and done nearly everything.

The steady decline in the amount of people willing to help is directly proportional to the amount of people willing to learn. I used to sherpa quite a bit during vanilla and TDB. Those needing help were usually equipped for the raid, and willing to actually participate. They'd be at an adequate level, have full legendary armour, levelled weapons, decent DPS weapons.. This standard of readiness dropped over the years. To the point that nowadays, it is common to see players with blue armour, garbage unlevelled weapons, that are 40 levels below the cap asking for help raiding. No one wants to learn anymore. They just want to be carried. They don't want to improve. They just want the loot.

Join a clan... B.net is the home of those super cool edgy teens and pre-teens that haven't even bought their own toothpaste yet.

It's tough. If you're interested, I'm looking to develop a clan across both consoles and PC dedicated to guided games and assisting players through raids. We are recruiting players of all skill levels. However we aren't doing tooooooo much in D1 anymore, but going strong when D2 launches. PM me if interested.

because unlike you I don't have time to play all day
-
No one wants to waste time helping people who could watch a -blam!-ing yt video.
-
Game has been out for 3 years. No one should need help anymore.
-
I think people are slowly getting to the point of doing everything

Edited by Jakebohica: 5/23/2017 12:50:36 PMBecause it was actually difficult to hit max level back then? You can hit 400 in a few hours if you farm properly. It's not hard to watch a YouTube video. And if you really wanna learn how to do a raid, do it with other new people and figure the crap out on your own like we all had to. Stop begging for carries and whining when no one wants to do the raid with a 383 when it's a 390 raid.

I haven't had that kind of experience
-
I used to play daily. Now I play very rarely at all.when I do play it is to get the weekly treasures

You must have had a different year one than I did... I was booted from too many groups before the action even started thanks to one simple question.
Do you have Ghorn?
And I didn't, because being the idiot trust I am, I bought helm of inmost light instead of ghorn.

Decline in player population. I had a great group of buddies, we would help out noobs every once in a while. Raid carries, trials carries, nightfall. You name it we did it. Sadly all but me quit, and I stopped carrying after half way through year 2. We all stopped wanting to help once the game stopped being fun. It stopped being fun after year 2 began.

Because it's not supposed to be about helping people. It's a video game. It's about being entertained. That's what it is at a very basic level anyways. People helping others is always a wonderful thing that comes about when you have various people completing the same tasks at a different speed. Some feel compelled to help others who aren't at the point they are. Some don't have the time to do so. Some couldn't care less if they step on everyone's head on their way to the top. That's just people, man. You can't expect anyone to behave a certain way, much less a community of hundreds of thousands of people. Hopefully the number that feels compelled to help is a lot larger than the latter, but expecting people to do so never really ends well.

Probably cause you never heard of a paragraph.

Register your game that on the 100.io for Destiny and word your desired activity you're looking to schedule properly. You will have no shortage of people willing to help. Or, look at the scheduled activities for phrases such as "all skill levels welcome", or "Sherpa requested".

We're a dying breed my friend

Wow that was quite a rant lol Ok there are still lots of people that help others and right now there are still lots of people just starting the game so will be low lvl/low light for you to find. The days you are talking about are not gone I would hassles a guess that your not looking in the right places or asking the right people. Now if your having problems finding a group there are a lot of places you can look for help "the 100" for instance also JOIN A CLAN - why don't people do this?!? Many people are looking for excuses to keep playing destiny as they are seriously bored so if you ask you might be surprised , if you just sit in the tower spam messaging people you'll get less response. I've played non stop since alpha and I've found over the last year or so people have become more and more helpful and patient then they were before (except on the forums where it's 90% unhelpful troll comments).

Maybe because 90% of lfg people just expect 1 or 2 people to do everything in the raid, while they just stand back and shoot their sniper at a stationary target... I had 3 different fireteams where literally NO ONE ELSE was willing to pick up the bomb to close the doors against vosik. Do you know how -blam!-ing easy that task is? People are a joke. They buy a videogame but don't bother to learn how to play it.....
