An Assassin's Story, Ch. 3

This is continued from An Assassin's Story, Ch. 2: https://www.bungie.net/en/Forum/Post/227008699/0/0 "In the beginning, there was light. Life had not existed before it, and life exists because of it. Light cannot exist without darkness, and in darkness life is made, this-" - excerpt from a novel known as The Paradox Theory. The Shadow Stalkers were intensely and routinely trained for any outcome, infinite upon infinite databases spanning their endless robotic memories. The Traveler shunned their kind, for these exo were the only surviving of the collapse, living in vast tunnels underneath the Earth's surface. These surviving machines banded together to survive, and in that moment of survival, an idea flickered in the cogs and wheels of an exo's mind. This exo was named Sentinel-8. - Leaving the crew quarters the same way he came, Snake-28 was fully prepared to embark on this journey. It had been 10 hours since his last assignment, but the Stalkers worked in this way. One assignment completed, another one pops up. There is always work to be done, people to be killed, sin surrounding this city's dark underground. When the Last City was welcomed under the Traveller's light, crime ran rampant in the Undercity, the citizens of this place rejected by the Light that had emblazoned the surface-world. The Undercity became a breeding ground for thievery, murder, gambling, and drug abuse. The Undercity appeared below the sewers, the tunnels filled with criminal activity, and each turn enlightening a different type of sin. In this place, Fallen who were rejected by their Houses were welcome here, even invited. Little did the surface know that beneath them laid a trove of crime, alien life, and law breaking. The Shadow Stalkers rarely went that deep by themselves, however when an assignment called for it the Shadow Stalkers would go anywhere. Surprisingly, the target Snake-28 was a Suros company manager, who on the side ran a gambling casino in the depths of the Undercity. This casino Snake-28 only knew as the Rats, filled with alien scum and criminals alike. Leaving the Shadow Stalkers hideout, Snake-28 followed down the tunnels for hours searching for the hidden entrance to the Undercity. The exact location seemed to change every few days, there being hundreds of entrances that were sealed up or opened on any certain day. The open ones were incredibly difficult to find, and getting in was even harder. It just so happens Snake-28 helped build this system.
