I want your guys' honest opinion. Do you think Arcstrider (Destiny 2 hunter subclass) should have a ranged attack, like throwing their spear? I think it's overpowered that a Dawnblade or Sentinel could kill an Arcstrider from a distance, and the Arcstrider can't do anything about it. What do you guys think?

I would like to see a one-time throw that has more power the more remaining Super energy you have left.
-
Edited by Zeeznutz: 5/23/2017 3:57:56 AMSure, all the crybaby hunters throw like girls anyway. Striker titans should get a ranged attack where they throw hunters heads around since everyone knows that hunters don't have balls
-
No , u allready get a throwing knife 🔪
-
I kind of hope you have to pick between a melee or ranged focus on the staff. I'd like the melee focused one to have a healing perk similar to hungering blade, chain lightning on their melee attacks, and a lot of agility. The ranged one would be cool to have a Death from Above style slam and a wave move like razor's edge. Of course, all this wouldn't matter if I could just throw lightning spears like goddamn Zeus. I want that instead. Can we have that instead?
-
I don't think we can make assumptions without actually seeing it. For example, bladedancers were exactly the same...melee only and can get killed from distance by fist of panic and purple fairy magic but guess what? it was OP as hell bc of the ability to get multi-kills and wiping a full team. From a PVE standpoint, range supers usually mean crowd control...maybe arcstrider super is more for DPS? Anyways, no judgement until more info. is revealed.

Hunters - GG, SS. 2 ranged. Titans - Sentinel. Hammer. 2 ranged. Warlock - Dawn. Nova. Storm. 2.5 ranged. Storm still needs to be close-ISH. With the displayed speed of Arcstrider, it really doesn't need a ranged when Hunters already have 2 ranged. In my opinion. Thoughts?
-
It should be melee only, but making you stupidly agile. Like Genji with his dragonblade. Melee only, but you're really agile, so they can't kill you.
The luckiest seven you will ever meet
-
Is that the official name for that class? If so, then im greatly disappointed. I would have thought bungie would have the sense of humor to call it poledancer.
-
There is a ranged attack https://youtu.be/zCw1VGZqwrI Go to 2:25. The ranged attack happens at 2:30. Watch carefully

Edited by error404notfound: 5/23/2017 9:59:22 PMWe haven't even played the game yet and you're already saying something is overpowered. For all we now Arcstrider could be able to tank a shot from other supers, or they have some rapid lateral movement ability that lets them dodge ranged attacks like the relatively slow moving projectiles thrown by other supers, or maybe they move fast enough to close distances so they can use the super effectively. There's a whole plethora of ways Arcstrider could outplay other supers that we don't know about yet because we've only seen approximately 30 seconds of Arcstrider gameplay. Before calling anything underpowered or overpowered, wait until you've actually played with it first

I am one with the Light, and the Light is with me...
-
They should scrap the staff and give him a dagger in each hand!!! That'd be so cool
-
The game hasn't even come out yet, please shut the fûck up

How would they implement that with the existing perk trees
-
I'm pretty certain I saw something a lot like razors edge when the staff hit the ground. Could be a combo ender, but im thinking it is a power attack rather than the melee.
-
Any melee type either needs a gap closer, a defensive ability, or a ranged option. Some kind of limited range attack would be good, but so would a fast rush attack to cover ground quickly or a defensive ability similar to sword block/deflect. As long as it has one of these it'll work fine. Striker looks to have super sprint speed and possibly death from above. I am worried about Dawnblade a bit. It's appears to be a way better version of hammers. Only weaknesses I've notice so far are slightly slow projectiles at long range and slow mid air travel. It also might have tanked a gg shot in the pvp gameplay. Hard to tell from the angle though. I'm mostly worried about hunter pve super viability though as it appears gg is weaker vs minions to. Vanilla destiny had hunters in a bad spot for pve so I'm hoping that doesn't repeat as current hunter pve seems well balanced aside from arcblade being weak.
-
Sadly, I think it'll be exactly the same as blade dancer.
-
It would be just like Bladedancer if there was no ranged attack.
-
I would say no because I would rather arcstrider have an agility/speed boost during super and have either blink or ionic blink to make up for the ranged attacks that other classes have. Maybe a speed boost equal or a bit lower to that which you get when your blue charge thing at Aksis

if you rewatch you can see every slash creates a short energy shockwave that travels forward. after the slash combo he also creates another shockwave. maybe they have an attunement that lets him throw the spear or something else, who knows.

Edited by Aldon saphir: 5/25/2017 5:54:09 AMwell... if the upgrades to golden gun are anything to go by... us hunter mains probably wont be using arcstrider as way of fighting against dawnblades or sentinals... though i do understand why you bring this up... the other two are both melee themed abilities just like the arcblade, and yet. they have been shown to have long ranged capabilities. but remember, do we even know much about the perks that come with the arcstrider yet? not that im aware of, so we might actually be getting some long range perk...
-
Games not out for for 4 more months and already calling warlocks OP. Never change destiny forum.
-
Could you at least wait to see how the arcstrider plays, perhaps it has ranged abilities.
-
Edited by GadNefarious: 5/23/2017 2:13:42 AMSure! Why not? Give strikers a ranged projectile too while we're at it. And give gunslingers an AoE explosion on activation just for kicks.
^Sarcasm^. Let's see how the subclasses play before we start stamping our feet and crying "NO FAIR!"
-
It probably can be thrown. We've not seen the whole thing yet, just some cinematic's.
