The Burden Carried Within, Chapter 21: Clown nose

Thought it would be weeks until I upload again? NOPE! *slams down chapter onto your desk* here ya go! “Okay Alfred, show us what you got.” Banker requested as he, dart, and Vanara all huddled around the single ghost inside of T.S and Warden’s hideout cave. His ghost nodded to Banker and started spewing out all the recent information of the Wolves location, recent projects of theirs, and recent communications between them and the house of Winter and Devils. “Okay… so…” Banker began. “The Wolves are trying to get Siva by stealing from the Devils- so that means they’re on Earth- they’re also going to try to use Siva to get to Mars, and Winter is allied with the Wolves’ splicers.” “Am I leaving anything out?” banker asked as he looked at Vanara and Dart. Dart shook his head. “I’m pretty sure you summarized it all up.” Vanara clicked in discomfort and worry. “Siva is really bad, same with wolf splicers…” she began. “When I was in a house, I served under Winter banner. I heard much chatter about the splicers of Wolves… very bad, very…” Vanara clicked in annoyance, trying to figure out the world to describe them with. Finally she found the word. “Croo… ool… Cruel.” she said. “Warden’s ghost, what house took Warden?” Dart asked as he looked over at Warden’s ghost that was hovering next to Vanara. “Wolves.” it immediately responded.    “Wolf splicers are trying to get a hold of Siva, they’re in the Plague Lands, and they have a guardian.” Banker blurted out. “What do you think they want with him?” asked Dart as he looked over at banker. “Well if I got something new, didn’t know how it works, and it could be potentially dangerous; I would test it out on a lab rat. Wouldn’t you?” Banker asked Dart. “So…” Vanara started, not understanding what a lab rat was. “Warden’s the lab rat.” Dart realized as his cybernetic eyes widened behind his helmet. “What does that mean?” Vanara asked, looking at Dart; realizing that his body had stiffened up. Banker sighed. “It means Warden will be subject to their experiments… they will test out Siva and who knows what else on him.” he explained to the vandal. Vanara’s eyes widened as she looked back and forth between Banker and Dart. “Well we need to do something!” she shouted as she stood up. Dart nodded, agreeing with her statement. Though they did not know the Warlock on a personal level, or at all in general, they knew they couldn’t just leave another guardian to suffer to the experiments of the splicers. “Where did you say the Wolves’ last location was?” Banker asked his ghost. “Earth, Plague Lands.” it responded. As it nodded in the air. “Well,” Banker got up to his feet. “We got a Warlock to save, some fallen to kill, and Siva projects to put an end to.” Banker stated as he stood tall and straight, he suddenly looked 10 times bigger more authoritative than before; like a true leader. “We better get going.” Banker offered a hand to Dart who was will sitting down. Dart mumbled something but accepted the invitation of the outstretched hand, grabbing it and allowing Banker to help him up. “All the year’s we’ve known each other I never once thought we would befriend a vandal, save a Warlock, and stop dangerous Siva experiments of Wolf splicers.” Dart chuckled as he looked at Banker. Banker shrugged. “Well we’ve only done one of those three.” Banker responded as he walked over to the cave entrance. “Wouldn’t you say we should go fulfill the other two?” “You know…” Warden began as he stirred uncomfortably on the ground. “A chair would be offaly nice.” he grinned. “Or are the Wolves on budget cuts? I mean hey,” Warden put his two hands up. “I won’t judge, I like to save up my glimmer too.” The Wolf splicer ignored Warden’s comment as it began working on something Warden’s couldn’t see on a table not too far away. “I mean really you wouldn’t BELIEVE the prices they charge at the tower for bloody spare armor parts!” Warden laughed. He heard an annoyed click from the splicer. For some stupid reason thought it a good idea to annoy it further. “I mean, glimmer is pretty hard to come by now a days too. But not enough to afford a chair- even if it’s just wood- is kiiiiind of sad.” Warden stated. “Or-or hey, you know those things? Ah what are they called… oh yes- bean bags! I’ve heard they’re pretty comfortable. What do you think? Have you ever sat in a bean-” “Shut up!” the fallen shouted. “Oh?” said Warden with curiosity and surprise in his tone. “You speak English now do ya?” “Yes I speak your tongue ignorant fool.” it surprisingly answered. “Where’d ya learn it?” Warden asked, now intrigued by this fallen. “The wretched Queen made a majority of us learn your tongue.” it answered as it continued to work at the table. “Wait- so- the fallen in the ketch could have had a conversation with me?” Warden asked with a hurt expression on his face. “Wow… that stings. Such horrible hosts.” “You really are one…” the fallen clicked, trying to think of a word. “Interesting… specimen.” “Specimen? Name’s Warden. Long for Warden short for Warden. Oh wait actually I think that’s backwards.” Warden smirked. He heard a shock and saw the splicer hesitate before continuing to work on whatever was on the table. “Say…” Warden began as he tried to perk up his head enough to see what was on the table. “What’s on the table?” There was no response. After a couple of minutes, the splicer clicked in joy as it turned around with what looked like a bright red ball. “Oh cool you have a clown nose.” Warden chuckled. “You’re such an ignorant fool,” the splicer clicked, annoyed with Warden’s arrogant comments. “I’ll enjoy this.” Warden’s eyes widened in fear as the ball started to make a low humming noise and small black spikes started poking out of it. “And people wonder why I’m afraid of clowns.”
