I don't care about a gameplay reveal
[spoiler]For those who will actually read this i'll explain, otherwise there will be a tl:dr at the bottom. [/spoiler]
So we all know about the upcoming gameplay reveal on May 18th; I'm sure we are all very hyped and excited about this upcoming tidbit of the sequel to everyone's favorite scifi shooter. But it's not all good.
I'm gonna step in front of this hype train to hopefully get some people to ask the right questions of bungie; because honestly I feel we need to question this game or else we'll end up with a repeat of year 1. so these are just some things i'd like to suggest to the community to get them thinking.
1. Destiny has never had an issue with gameplay. The gameplay, be it guns, abilities, melee etc, have, for me at least, always been very solid. Perhaps destiny's best attribute. I don't need to be shown something I'm already fairly confident will be of pretty good quality.
2. Will weapons be balanced in pvp and pve independently? or will we have a repeat of the last couple of years?
3. Will characters be fleshed out this time around? or will we be expected to read grimoire cards?
4. Will we have in game lfg? or proper matchmaking systems in order to find groups for a primarily coop game?
5. 30 fps? 60 fps?
6. Content...content....content. Bungivision has said they have a plan to supply us with that steady drip of goodness. But what does that mean? will there actually be a steady stream of content; no not just content [b]quality[/b] content?
7. What kind of grind are we in for exactly?
8. Will microtransactions continue to encroach into the game ? could we be facing a call of duty situation?
9. Should we be expecting a demo or the beta/will the beta be indicative of the final product?
So I know we all can't wait for destiny to come out. and we're all very excited. But please just think about what theyre showing us; think about what you want or don't want. And be sure to question what's going on.
tl:dr we're all really hyped, but we need to ask the important questions. Will destiny 2 be a big improvement? or will it be the next call of duty? with some graphics updgrades, but another rehash of the same old stuff?

What's important to look for is how Bungie addresses all of the MAJOR -blam!- ups from Destiny. There's tons. I doubt they'll be addressed. This is the sequel. It's at the point for them where they feel it's time to make more money with LESS effort. Not expecting much at all honestly

3 RepliesReally, the only thing I care about is dedicated servers for the pvp experience. I'm sure the pve will be great...not concerned about that in the least. The 800 lb gorilla in the Vault is the p2p v dedicated servers. Since bungie hasn't come out screaming something positive on this front I must conclude pvp in D2 will remain the lag fest we all know and embrace.

The biggest red flag should have been the things we already know. We lose our weapons and gear, which I don't mind at all, because the cabal destroy our tower. Now doesn't that seem a bit lazy on the writing side. How about the gear that's already on us. Wasn't this suppose to be an all new game with new worlds. Then why are the cabal still here and why is Cayde a character still. Your last point might be the most accurate. They aren't going to add anything new. Slight increase to graphics but most likely a reskin of everything we already do and have, just like call of duty. Money is not an issue but as gaming has changed we have earned the right to be picky with our game purchases. There are way better games coming out this year. Bungies going to have to earn my attention. I'm waiting on actual gameplay and real reviews. Not going to be some sweaty nerd that just gets destiny 2 because it's bungie. Even the name is lazy. It leaves nothing to the imagination for a game that was suppose to be completely different. How about a different name instead of a giant 2 at the end. Just be mindful of everything this company has done in the past 3 years. It's not that great.

At this point I laugh everytime I see someone mentioning the Microtransactions. Bungie should know that they are in for a glorious shit storm if they go CoD with it. So don't expect it please. Other than that, D2 will not be bound to dead-gen technology so we can probably expect bigger scale areas, more FPS, maybe a higher FoV and all that good shit. You're right with the gameplay, Destiny always played well. And then there's the balancing. I hope this time they actually DO separate PvE and PvP instead of pushing out a dumbass excuse trying to cover that they're lazy about it. Also dedicated servers plz

I'm actually staying away from the gameplay reveal, since I rather be surprised when the game actually releases. I feel only watching gameplay, will leave me wanting expectations, and be disappointed if what is revealed in the gameplay trailer, doesn't actually come to fruition in the actual release. Only thing I truly only care about this time around is a flesh out/fair and balanced weapon system that not only works for PvE, but PvP as well. I feel the problem with Destiny atm is where you have weapons that look awesome, but due to their limitations/traits they are only good for either PvE, or PvP and sometimes neither and are more for boss fights and not constant use. As for story, I doubt they'll touch much if any onto it in the gameplay reveal. It'll probably only to showcase how the game looks now, feels, and works. Though, I doubt it'll play much differently than Destiny 1. So saying that, I would rather them not hype up a tease of a story, and fall flat on something that barely gave us anything once finally here. House of Wolves/Rise come to mind anyone? If they take the direction they did with TK, it's gonna be great.

I'm curios to see what new subclasses bungie can come up with, and what kind of abilities we'll be using. What enemies are we fighting? What makes them different? That's what is to be expected from a gameplay reveal. I agree in being curios about the way the story is presented and the quality of it but that's not something you get from a gameplay reveal, you really should wait until the beta to get confirmation on it. You aren't going to get answers to your questions until shortly before release, including PvE and PvP adjustments. I mean you're asking for conformation of balances changes to a game that's not even out yet.

Very fair points of concern... Still it is only the first reveal and imo Iam surprised it is even before E3. People excpet to much from the first ever sneakpeak.

This is the first reveal do you expect them to go into immense detail? No they're going to give us a taste for what's to come.

1 ReplyI'm not buying into the hype. I'll believe it when I see it. We'll have serious problems if Destiny 2 doesn't run at at least 60FPS, at least on the PC side. Going to take everything with a grain of salt until I get my hands on it, and I'll be damned if I have to pay for access to the beta.

I hope they are showing mostly pve gameplay, I'm not a PvP person whatsoever and the co-op is the only reason I play Destiny. I don't like any other shooters, but they have a solid game here

22 Repliescan we have a nice long break from the hive in d2? are we gonna get exotics that are more than gimmicky legendaries? is there going to be a real reason to remain loayl to a faction outside of a shitty class item? shaders..are they going to be a thing still or are we gonna get a color wheel or something? are the open world-ish areas going to be populated with more than just enemies, patrol becons, and public events? are my sub- classes going to have more depth than my weapons this time around? has pvp gone to die in a hole where it belongs? (pvp shooters are less than a penny a 100) are there gonna be more than 4 models for each gun type? can we leave the base template for armors behind? (titans and the swept back look thing think inmost lighthelm) is the lore gonna be in the game?(this should be on every list) is there ever gonna be fan made items in game (warframe style) more than one type of ground vehicle? bosses with mechanics outside of raids? more mechanics in the game at all? more than just swords for the heavy slot? you gonna rework the weapon system so we don;t have to be bound be certain slots only allowing certain weapon? will there be sidearms in more than 1 of the raids? are classes gonna be limited only 1or 2 types of jumps still? are there gonna be ghost shells that are more than reskins and a few sticks and button glues on them? are there gonna be more races to play as or kill? is the pc and scorpio versions going to look better or are you going to try and cripple them so the sony version doesn't look like it was released on sega genesis by comparison? are you gonna have a progression system in d2 so that there isn't a sudden dead end until the first dlc. are we going to be able to believe it's not butter? are you still under the delusion year is a reasonable time for exclusives?[spoiler](if so go fk yourself)[/spoiler] are more items gonna get ornaments outside of exotics and raid gear?

I kind of want everything to be a surprise. I loved starting Destiny on day 1 and not having any clue what was going on and what all the resources were for. It was fun being dumb.

19 Repliesi don't get why people want pvp separated from pve. you can definitely achieve a balance if you try hard enough. one of the core beliefs for destiny is that a gun works the same way no matter where you use it. Touch of Malice excluded.
