Strength of the Pack S3 Ch. 8: The Iron Temple

Bang! Bang! Bang! Blake hit the SIVA wall repeatedly, however, the nanites continued to repair the dents he caused. The titan leaned his back against the wall, then slid to a sitting position. "I wonder why they haven't come for us..." he said. "I... don't know. This 'Technomancer' seems to be a strategist-- or was, at one point. Maybe she's planning something and we are not a threat worth dealing with, at the moment," Dakota replied. "Lunatic. She's a lunatic, don't forget that..." Blake continued with a huff. "And a murderer!" Kourtney shouted. "She might not be a strategist and she may not be-- wholly-- insane, but she is merciless. That scares me more than anything! What if she were to get tied in with the Concordat?" "Heh. I could only imagine Lysander and this b**** going at it..." Blake said. "This isn't funny! There are too many guns pointed at the City... It can't fight them all," Kourtney rebuked. "She's right," Dakota said. "We need to tell the Vanguard about this woman and what her plans are." Blake hit the wall behind him, causing the nanites to spazz out. "Any plans of getting out?" Dakota stared deeply in the reflection on Blake's visor. Something had caught his eye. "Possibly," he said. The warlock hopped to his feet and walked down the tunnel behind him. Jutting out of the wall, was an ancient battle-axe. Dakota wrapped his fingers around the shaft and yanked the weapon out of the iron plated wall. He hit the staff to the ground and inspected the axe head. "This was an Iron Lord's weapon..." As if by command, the axe flared to life as Solar Light erupted from the blades. Blake and Kourtney got up and stared in awe. Why was this beautiful weapon abandoned in here? Was this where the Iron Lords gave their lives? No matter, getting out was the main priority. Dakota hoisted the massive weapon into his hands, then approached the SIVA wall. He swung the weapon with such unorthodox ease, it seemed the weapon had a will of its own. A will to quarantine this plague, and eradicate it. The raging fire in the axe burned through the SIVA, leaving large gashes in the wall. In a swift motion, Dakota jabbed the axe into the ground with everything he had, causing a solar burst of energy that blew down the remainder of the wall. The axe's flames died out, and the iron weapon dematerialized into a mere baton. Dakota clipped the handle onto his belt and led the team out of the fortress. "Come on!" The warlock yelled. "We have to get to the Tower!" The fireteam found a gap in a building's wall. It seemed like the Splicers were burrowing right through the structure. Steel was scattered all across the ground, and pipes were cut open. The Devils were busy. What were they building? The dark tunnel opened up and light blinded the three Guardians. Blake was the first to adjust to the light. As he was able to see the world again, he spun around and gazed upon a massive... thing. "Oh, s***. What could that be for?" Dakota and Kourtney looked too. "It appears they built a... servitor... From a colony ship pod?" the warlock said. Kourtney spun around, and pointed to the sky. Sure enough, the colony ship was one sphere, short. "We need to keep moving," Dakota said before continuing to run for the Cosmodrome. The other two took one final look at the giant eye that was spitting fire all around it, then followed their captain out of the area. As the team trekked through the blistering cold snow, frostbite began to nip at their fingers and toes. The wind wasn't much help either. "Dakota!" Blake yelled in the howling winds. "Do you think you could give us some heat?!" Suddenly, the wind stopped. The team looked around the cabin. They were transmatted into a ship! Who's? "Lord Saladin wants a word with y'all..." said the pilot. The chair spun around, revealing an exo with a yellow face. "The name's Shiro, by the way. Shiro-4." The members of Wolf Pack shared looks with each other. Why did Lord Saladin want to talk with them? The ship hovered over Felwinter's Peak and the four Guardians transmatted to the surface. Shiro pointed to the temple above, "He's in there," he said. The team climbed the various steps. Other Guardians were still helping in the restoration process after the Splicer attack. Nanites were everywhere, and so were Fallen corpses. As Wolf Pack reached the balcony, the gates creaked open. "I guess he was expecting us," Blake said. The team entered the temple and looked around at the ancient carvings. In the main hall, eight statues were erected around a central fire pit. Each statue was illuminated by their own fireplace. And guarding the centerpiece, were two massive iron wolves. "These are the Iron Lords?" Kourtney asked as she looked at each statue. Lord Felwinter, Lord Gheleon, Lady Jolder, Lady Perun, Lord Radegast, Lord Silimar, Lady Skorri, and Lord Timur. "I've only seen references of them in pieces of gear!" "They were valiant souls, my brothers and sisters. They took the Dark Age, and forged the City Age. But now, a new age is near, Guardians... and new Lords are needed to take up the Iron Court!" The Guardian in platinum and gold armor said. The Guardian spun around, revealing himself as the Iron Lord, Saladin.
