I have played this game religiously ever sense the dark below came out. On my hunter alone, I have logged over two months, and the majority of my time has been spent in the crucible, so it is fair to say that I know the crucible rather well. That is why I am 100% comfortable saying this special ammo nerf has to be rolled back. Before my opinion is stated, TheCammyCakes just uploaded a video about these sidearms and primary weapons, the link will be posted, it states what is on my mind much better then what I can do on a bungie forum. It is unfair to the player base to have all special removed upon death, especially with a game this laggy. This game has a tick rate of 30, so it updates once every 1/30 of a second. This is way to slow, this is why we trade shotgun kills so much, because the games refresh rate is way to slow. So why are we, as players, punished for lag? Every single person who has played at least 3 hours of crucible knows that there will always be a lagging god from Indonesia, and there is nothing you can do to stop it. So why are we punished for doing nothing wrong? Why are we being forced to use sidearms? I understand that this was intended to make a primary meta, but it failed miserably. Let us have fun in this game, let us use our shotguns, let us snipe, let us dick about with fusion rifles! Don't force us to use one thing!

  • What I hate about the special ammo nerf is who it punishes. Yes, it punishes those who used their special as a primary. BUT, it also punishes well-behaved players, players who mained their primary but relied on their special for special situations. That's the problem: we didn't do anything wrong, and our ability to play the game was compromised. We already had two "power-ups", heavy and supers. We didn't need a third. Because of this hateful new meta, my Guardian is at reduced combat effectiveness every time he dies. Moreover, my ability to gain advantage through strategy (i.e., putting together a well-balanced loadout) no longer exists either. I refuse to make an unreliable weapon part of my general battle plan. In retaliation for Bungie's decision to punish me (and those like me) without cause or need, I henceforth refuse to play the way they want. And I applaud those who do the same. Ice Breakers, No Lands, Invectives, stickies, wombos, whatever: if is not "approved", I welcome it!

    • imo the idea wasnt bad. i still almost always have special ammo because the special crates always spawn after i respawn so this "problem" doesnt rly affect me. but on the other hand i dont use specials as a primary, so it would never affect me anyways... but... everyone simply uses icebreaker or sidearms to bypass the nerf so yeah... maybe have all specials spawn with one magazine and no reserves. only sidearms should have 1 magazine in the reserve because that was their gimmick. but seeing as this was the last thing theyre working on i dont see any kind of change coming anyways.

    • I actually like the nerf because now gun skill is more important as well as choosing the right weapon for your playstyle and the map at hand. I think this is the best state of special ammo economy there has been but it could be better. Here's my solution: shotguns, snipers and fusion rifles should always spawn with one or two rounds. I think that would probably be the perfect balance (pun intended, sorry).

      • Bungie doesn't care anymore. If they did, they would've made a crucible playlist where you keep special ammo. I guarantee you that the population of that playlist would be much higher than any other. With all of the things they updated with Ages of Triumph, it would have been nice to see a legacy" crucible playlist that played like Desinty did for the first 2.5 years of existence.

        • The patch watered the game down even more an dmade it boring to me but pve is fun to me and the age of triumph is great for that but for my pvp I'm playing titanfall 2

          • Regardless of whether it makes the game fun to play or not, I think it is the wrong move for the game. I get what they want: They want the special weapon to be used sparingly or strategically and they want people to rely on their primary. The problem is that there are a few weapons that don't play by normal rules, and so they end up dominating the meta (icebreaker, NLB, sidearms, etc.). We can have a primary weapon driven meta where people actually WANT to use a primary weapon or we can have a primary weapon meta where people are FORCED to use the primary weapon. And Bungie has decided to force us to use the primary weapon. The main problem with this is that they are trying to impose classic halo-esque combat where power weapons were available on a limited basis, and everyone had to use what are effectively "primary" weapons to duke it out. Kill times were slow, but that was fine given the fact that spartan's couldn't sprint, rocket jump, evade, etc. In Destiny, guardians move faster, can sprint, have sudden change of direction abilities, including evade, can close the gap on their target much faster, etc. So slow kill times don't really make sense. In Y1, you could get away with using a primary because kill times were a little bit faster so it was easier to kill even a moving guardian and because the power gap between primary vs. secondary was smaller, you were not as heavily disadvantaged. In Y2, when they slowed primary kill times, people switched to secondary weapons because primary weapon combat was so slow that you were at a major disadvantage accept if someone was coming at you with a primary weapon in hand. So regardless of whether you find the current meta fun or not, the main problem isn't solved. They keep imposing a playstyle on the game that doesn't fit THIS game, which is why there are so many problems in PVP. They want this game to play like halo, to be like halo was in its glory days. But this game isn't halo. They need to embrace the game for what it is in PVP: a faster paced arena shooter. If you accept that it is a game that plays faster, then it doesn't matter if primary weapons have faster ttk's because it fits the game that they built.

            • No clue why sucky side arms have ammo on respawn. Also no clue why Bungie haven't restore special ammo in pvp to what it was like before... since it's clear that most of us ABSOLUTELY HATE IT the way it is now.

[/i] The game is frustrating because they took a game that was once fast, fluid, and allowed you to play in a wide variety of ways and force to to be come slow, frustrating, clunky and narrow in its scope of play styles. ...and in the process keep causing the game to unravel even more because it was designed to play this way.

              • That was a poor way to try to balance the game. I am not playing crucible anymore except to get the treasure once a week. Not because I can't "adapt" but because the game is no fun anymore. RIP Destiny, you were great. My only hope is for Destiny 2 s crucible to get a fresh start and not be based on the last Destiny update. That would be a great disappointment.

                • By far, the dumbest move bungie has made. I'm forced to wait at the beginning of the round for sufficient ammo or race with the other players on my team to get kills first. I could just go out and try to kill everyone with 12 rounds but that's unlikely for my side arm. I found myself now running out of ammo during every elimination game and dying cause of it. I am now forced to waste my time to find an ammo crate. Bungie either didn't think this through or doesn't care. Probably both. The timeline of these changes reveal the real manner behind the nerfs. So disgusting .!

                  • Slightly agree - I wish the crates loaded the weapon automatically instead of having to reload and sidearms need a re work on keeping all the ammo. Sad to never see fusions and 99% of the snipers (except ice breakers)
