I know I can't be the only one, but I don't get super hyped for games anymore. The only game I'm looking forward too is Red Dead 2. Destiny really brought me down and then the division crushed my hopes and dreams.

I agree. In fact nearly every game I expected to be good in 2014-16 was a disappointment. Don't get me wrong I still played the shit out of some of them, but nothing measured up to the PSO/N64/SS and PS2/GC/XB days (missed most of the PS3/Wii/360 gen). So far this year I've only got hyped about RE7 and HZD, neither disappointed.

I'm feeling fatigued with all the open-world pseudo-RPGs these days, so I'm definitely going to calm down on buying so many. First to ignore is Prey. Although, if it plays more like BioShock than Thief, I may reconsider.

Remember being a kid the amount of excitement you would feel when new games were coming out? Man I miss that. Even games I look forward to nowadays don't bring much excitement out of me.
-
I feel ya, cant get hyped for anything
Destiny really brought me down and then the division crushed my hopes and dreams.
This generation of games has been a big let down. It's like the whole industry is creatively bankrupt.
-
It's because solid AAA games are gone.
-
Play Witcher 3

Edited by JBonesTexas: 3/28/2017 12:23:00 AMCheck out Death Stranding. Be prepared to get hyped. Also, if you haven't played Horizon Zero Dawn yet. Stop what you are doing and go get it.
-
To be honest the only game that seems to interest me is Shadow of War.
-
I remember watching e3 last year being mega exicted but now all those games are out :( Feel dead inside
-
Could just be video game fatigue. Give it time and I'm sure that excitement will come back
-
I was hyped for Ghost Recon Wildlands...
but then I found out its desert dry after the final mission

dlc better be worth it
-
I feel. Especially with people like Luke smith
-
It's these forums, everyone overhypes stuff and just leads to disappointment
-
That's because you're constantly playing the same types of games. You have to branch out if you want excitement back in gaming.
-
Just be excited for the next elder scrolls coming out in a shit ton of years
-
It's fewer and further between nowadays, but then again I don't really think I was ever 'Hyped' for games other then the odd couple a year such as Halo2, 3,4 etc same with Gears. In recent memory the only games I've been hyped for are Halo5 Dishonered2 Mass effect and Prey. Otherwise I look forward to games and want to play them but I don't get hyped for them.

Edited by shiloh: 3/26/2017 10:34:43 AMI get hyped for games. I shouldn't, but I do and I'm proud of it. I love the feeling of excitement when a new game is released.
-
Yeah, you make a good point. Ghost Recon really pissed me off. It's the most basic mind numbing game I have ever played
-
Borderlands 3
-
I feel the same way
-
I had two games so far this year that got me hyped. Breath of the Wild, and Mass Effect Andromeda.
So far neither have disappointed.
-
I sure do know what you mean it's hard to expect games to be in good quality at release anymore, especially if it's multiplayer. The only game I got excited for was halo wars 2, which it had a decent release, besides huge balancing issues and some freezing
-
I'm reserving my hype for after I see red dead gameplay.

Edited by x Silver cRoW x: 3/24/2017 7:32:58 PMYour not the only one for shure! But there are a few reasons for this: 1. All the teens who see the smallest bit of info on a game, then proceed to build it up to a level that no game could ever live up to and spread that feeling of anticipation amongst their friends only for it to backfire on them when said game isn't what they fantasized it would be. 2. All the greedy turdballs who sit at the top of these large gaming companies (I'm looking at you Activision board members) whose only desire is to make more money. These aren't the same as the people who in decades prior were concerned with the quality of the games they were making. Of course even those people were part of a business and making money was part of it, but they made money by focusing on the quality of the games they were making. Now (Activision and companies like them) focus on the profits they can make by seeing how little effort and how much slop they can push on the consumer, yet still get away with it. 3. Also when it comes to the overall quality of games, this has been the worst gaming decade of them all! I have been around for all of them and this one by far is the worst. Which is especially disappointing since the technology available is far superior to what was available for prior decades.

looking forward to The Ringed City, but only because its the conclusion to dark souls as a whole and i'm dying to know the plot holes
