Just got SOTN

Never played a Castlevania game in my life, but I saw a couple of the ports for sale on 360 a little while ago and I've been playing it constantly. I just decided to get the one I heard the most about, so Symphony of the Night was it, and boy this game is awesome. Tough as hell too, I'm already stuck at the boss battle where you have to fight yourself. Edit: HAHA!! I just beat him! Take that, self!! Any tips? Nostalgic recollections?

"What is a man? A miserable pile of secrets!" Tip: there's and enemy called schmoo, it drops one of the best weapons in the game. It makes the rest of the bosses trivial though. Fun fact: the hallways in between areas were loading buffers.
