If we had a public test server to test out patches and features before they affect the core game, I feel like we could give Bungie some fancy schmancy statistics or something before a potential game breaker is released. Participants would be randomly selected and given a reasonable amount of time to spew bullets at each other, and Bungie could see how the common folk actually behave in the crucible with the "fixes".
I think their current pool of testers is a wee bit small and all probably have a hive mind.

We already have this feature. It's the game that you are referencing.
-
Don't even have a PvP server and you expect a test server?
-
If destiny 2 is on PC they will. Consoles just can't due to Sony and Microsoft
-
This game is the public test server
-
Why don't I have my foot up your ass?
-
You do...You play on it everytime you launch the game
-
We do. We just don't have a regular server
-
There is a public test menu. There's lots of test arenas like clash, control, skirmish etc
-
We do it's the game. They make shitty nerfs and say test the BS we just did to you guys.
-
Too expensive to take care of, and even then the servers would probably suffer the same problems that Blizzard has with their PTR servers in Overwatch, in that no one is gonna even bother with them...
-
Public test servers remove secrets and excitement from the game.
-
There should be a sign up list instead of random people. Imagine a new player giving feedback on trials or iron banner weapons. Doesn't make sense.
-
The honest answer is how difficult Sony and Microsoft make putting any update for anything out so each time they wanted to make a change it would need to go through certification again
-
Because SHADDAP -Bungie
-
Bcs Destiny runs on peer to peer. It doesn't run dedicated servers.
-
I think the question is why the community wanted connection over skill base matchmaking knowing bungie servers are trash. The matchmaking times are hurting people.
-
Because the destiny community is full of whiny little bitches, whose opinions matter not???
-
They let the streamers use the test builds
-
We are the test servers. We test it and voice how much we hate stuff. Then they tell us the feedback is mixed on TWAB.

Edited by Erijian: 2/25/2017 5:23:22 AMYour best shot at that would be to live in Washington and accept an invitation to do some playtesting at their HQ. I've got one before but had to work that day. The thing that bugs me is that it's a small minority that may or may not be good at the game even, so..
Invite me again pls Bungo
-
Because they don't test shit haha
-
Because they will pick Twitch Streamers, And twitch streamers need money so they will say anything to make bungie pay them.
-
Because it's extremely difficult to do on console.
-
It is really hard to do something like that with all the changes they would have to add because every little patch has to be approved by sony/microsoft.
-
Welcome to Destiny, the public test server for Destiny 2- story mode. Please insert wallet.

It is very difficult and expensive to have a ptr up on consoles, as well as to keep the ptr updated. If Destiny 2 launches on PC, this could definitely happen, but as it stands now, probably not. However, if Bungie had some people who understand the PvP on a professional level come in to their studios and test the game for us that would be the next best thing.
