NOTICE

This is a post regarding what? Yes, the current patch. If you are an avid reader of the forums, I'm guessing you have read a lot about people bailing on the game, special ammo being an issue in Crucible, and about sidearms. My friends and I don't post on the forms because we looked at it as a place for people to complain about what needs to be nerfed and what doesn't. There will always be one person who is unhappy with how things are. Someone gets killed by a shotgun in Crucible, they might just pop on here to say how much it needs nerfing. Someone gets killed by a titan smash, they will say how much striker needs to be nerfed. So as everyone knows, after the special ammo adjustment in Crucible, sidearms have become a very prominent weapon that you will almost always see in every match. Unlike other weapons, they provide special ammo whenever you spawn in and don't require you to have to pick any up. So yeah of course sidearms are going to be popular when they act just as they did before the patch. Before the patch, they were used just as often as sniper rifles, shotguns, or fusion rifles, and they were fine. The patch on special ammo was what caused sidearms to be used as commonly as they are now. The way shotguns, pistols, or any other weapon types were adjusted, were not the cause for sidearms being used the way they are now. All weapons, even shotguns, are still usable. It's a matter of what is more accessible in Crucible without special ammo available at the start. People get upset when they are killed in Crucible. Even I'm guilty of that. Especially when you are killed by the same thing over and over. When that happens, some might go on the forums and post a topic about nerfing said weapon they were killed by. Sidearms are the current weapon people want nerfed. Do they need it? Maybe. I personally don't think that it is necessary. When you nerf something as a direct result of a nerf that was made, that's when you know the game itself is broken. The system that needs fixing or adjusted is how special ammo is distributed. Maybe give it to a player for getting a primary kill. Maybe only lose half of your special ammo for dying. But the player shouldn't be punished so harshly for dying. This isn't heavy ammo we are talking about. The game should encourage the players to use a variety of weapons, not put patches in place to force players to use just one. If special ammo was returned to the way, it was or adjusted so that other special weapons were just as accessible as sidearms, then there would be no need to put nerfs in place.
