Vex and Space/Time

So I've been wondering, in game, we have heard of the Nexus and Restorative Minds but they never in detail explain how they manipulate the space time continuum. So, after we killed Atheon if the Nexus sent Vex back to the VOG and assure that us guardians would be dead what would happen to us? Also, how haven't both of the Nexus minds already achieved infinite victory. I don't remember where, but I heard that the Vex would constantly go back in time and fight battles until they achieved perfection. If they "constantly" do this, how haven't our guardians faded from existence. I know that Bungie has to file lore into the constraints of the game, but shouldn't the Vex had already achieved victory, and our bodies disappear?

  • The vex want to reach a state in the universe were they win in every possible end to everything. The darkness destroys everything it controls The fallen. Now pirate scum. The hive. Constantly in fear of their worm. If the vex will eventually lose they wouldnt bother to have their units existing and working on planets. Therefore, the vex have already won. They have seen the end of the universe and are essentially keeping the light in endless loop. Another thing is in prologue films' montage we see the vex being born in the depths of the ocean. If the vex are the darkness they would be born in darkness. Which powerful race first encountered the darkness in the deep? The hive. The hive brought the whirlwind to the fallen which turned them to the darkness. Also, in the ps exclusive hunter armour, it talks about the ahamkara dragons ( hive worm gods) living in the depths of oceans. So maybe some of these ahamkara were tainted with dark vex power and ebcountered the krill or proto hive, aurash and her sisters. Also the taken, born of the darkness, look a hella lot like the heart of the black garden and the gorgons. Another support is the vex are manipulating us because all threats have been or will be eliminated. Kabr was using vex technology so he was seen as a threat. Praedyth was a warlock that could be used as bait when oryx tried to control the vex, but for some unknown reason the weak hunter known as pahanin survived, was it sheer luck? Or did the vex just see pahanin as irrelevant as our guardian.

  • Guardians, other beings of Light, and the Darkness are all paracuasal powers, meaning the control their own destiny. The Vex are unable to predict these encounters and therefore we are essentially invisible to the. That is why we are able to fight them at all.

  • So I don't know what grimoir it is in but I do know what mission is related and what the guys name and intentions were. The mission is the one on Venus where you break into the bunker to find info on the Vex The guy's name is Dr. Shin, and he and his team are unsung heroes. What Dr. Shin's team did was find a way to hack their bodies into the vex construct of time (this was during the golden age so it was easier) and they figured out that they could create copies of them selves in data form. So to destroy the vex they made a computer virus of sorts, they created a copy of them self that would copy itself until it self replicated itself to sort of lag out the vex hive mind and destroy their existence, and as far as I know Dr. Shin was successful thus far. Hope this helps.

    • Because they only have the power to do so in the Vault of Glass. Outside of that they are unable to alter our reality or anything like that.

    • One of the time traveling hypotheses is that when you travel in time the timeline you left continues unchanged and the timeline you alter takes a different path.

      • I bet it would have been explained in the planned Vex Void dlc, but unfortunately it was canned, or moved to the 2nd game, or I hope to the 2017 April update.

It is all about balance of math and the thought of computers bringing balance First the traveler (the first joining of machine and entity) Then vex Then Rasputin Then Siva Then the vault of Glass (made) Then the hive\vex\human combo the awoken Then exo (combo of man\vex\hive) Then the vault of Glass (destroyed) Then Siva again Then ? Going by that order it should be raspy again then vex Balance through and from math On the other side of the coin you have the chaos of life coming forth to also keep the balance Hive Crota and sisters Cabal Emperor Warlords Guardians Eris&crota Oryx Cabal? Cloud of death? To the best of my knowledge that is the Yin and Yang of it I know I'm missing a link to some life/PC links in Destiny lore but this could the baseline to continue from

            • ...maybe we are just in an early iteration of the time loop and the Vex haven't learned how to defeat us yet. They don't know how to predict us because...

              • The biggest thing is that the Vex deal far less in timetravel and much more in timelines. In fact, the only times we see past and future coming together are in very special and unique projects like the Black Garden and the Vault of Glass. Pretty much everything else we observe is them jumping between equivalent points in different timelines. Now, the Vex goal is an "emperor to all outcomes." Meaning, they gather all possible variables, simulate every possible scenario, then build a contingency for each scenario that ends in the very least with Vex survival, if not outright victory. The problem with that is they are incapable of simulating either Light or Dark. They can't anticipate or understand the Traveler, the Darkness, the Taken King, the Taken, or the Guardians. They can't even begin to fathom us so they can barely even begin to try and organize a well thought out way to fight us. Think of the Vex as a giant "if->then" input system. If this happens then they do this. With guardian's, they can't figure out an 'if' to put it so then can't respond with a 'then.'

                • They are waiting. The only time they truly took us seriously was when we destroyed the Heart, the Undying Mind, and the Nexus... oh and saved their collective asses in Paradox... only to betray their trust in Blood of the Garden.

                • That's the interesting thing about space/time. Considering a infinite or finite points it respectively takes time to occupy them all. The guardian current point in time might not be different yet. And of course it's a video game.

                  • Vex aren't as all mighty as people make them out to be. They can't simulate Guardians. Meaning no matter how much they go back in time, they can't predict us or The Light and will not defeat us. It's why they lost to Oryx. Vex just can't simulate them, and they ran thousands of simulations trying to find an outcome where they are victorious, but didn't find one.

                    • This is because of the way the ghosts work create new guardians as well as maintain the already existing ones.
